We are seriously Interested

Wow this seems too good to be true... ( is it? )

Well i am a web designer / guitarist / dj. Im looking to provide visitors of my site http://www.lostdesigns.com (down for updates) and http://radio.lostdesigns.com music with automatic request systems and such. Unfortunatly i am capped on my upload and cannot handle the capacity i am looking for ( not much - 25 / 100 listeners at a time )

If this is somthing you can provide me with it would do a great deal of good for me as well as everyone else looking for there slot.

Thanks ~ Dustin

Count me in!

I had to temporarily stop b/casting my (relatively popular) all-80's broadcast when I started working from home (long story) more than every-so-often. But if you're handing out free bandwidth, I'd be more than happy to use you guys as a relay and keep Grail Radio on the air 24/7!

Sign me up -- and let me know when and where. I'll be there!!

Hi everyone,
well you have attracted my boses attention now and it looks like this is going to go ahead.

Our web-site designers are now working on a pre-request web-page to register your interest.

We are also working out all the maths too to limit the amount of users that can sign-up. We do not want to over sub-scribe the service. It is our re-putation that is on the line.

Web-Space Update...
Every user will be given 50mb of free web-space to host there web-site. This is also a real-player streaming enabled...

I will post the link as soon as it is available...

DEFINATELY!!!

Hey, I'm definately interested in getting a little extra bandwidth for my radio station. We're thinking about expanding to a full-time station, so we'll need all the help we can get. If you're sending info by email for the free server, you can contact me at radio@tonybear.com.

Ok thanks for all the replys, we now have a pre-sigup e-mail for everyone who uses this shoutcast forum (A kind of head start)

E-Mail - signup@kalnet4u.co.uk (Subject - Shoutcast)

With these details :-

Name -
Location -
Bandwidth - eg. 128k stream
Predicted amount of listeners -

Also you can provide some details about your web-site, then we can promote it on our web-site for free.

We advise you to be quick as we only have limited places during our Trial period, if all places are filled then we will not have a web page signup...

Kind Regards
Kevin

Our e-mail systems are going into over-drive, we are answering record numbers of e-mails.

We even had to bring in extra staff on a Sunday to help.

We would like to thank everyone on this web-site for your support This is what the Internet community should be like... Kind and warm hearted (a tear to my eye). LOL

We still have places for our Trial so e-mail us fast as we expect to be fully booked by tonight. Then the party will begin...

Everyone will get a reply.

We don't have an automatic reply as we like our e-mails to be person and directed at you.

You will receive a reply, however our e-mail server is down at the moment.
When the server is back up we expect allot of e-mail to come flooding in... Thats why we have 40 staff on Standby to come zooming in when we have the word everything is up.

We are also opening up a telephone support line and also on-line support.

We currently have around 50 people actively using the server and are hoping to keep adding people. As of yet we have had no major problems.

Yours Sincerely
Kevin

i dunno ... I've done the math tons tons and tons of times,
even if these guys throw ads all up in this place they are still gonna take a HUGE loss on this connection. I hope im wrong about this, but I cant really see anyone taking such a major financial hit just to provide free radio services.

how do they expect to keep thier "40 person staff" comming to work when they are taking such a loss. (even if they are only paying $1,000/month for a 100M connect like a certain ISP is offering they will still be deep in the red)

I'm curious about these numbers

Im not a hater ... just a skeptic

keeping public radio just the way i like it (i play you listen)

Fish - http://www.liquid.acid.net
Id be really curious to see how these numbers work

I believe there plan ( as stated before) is to provide free shoutcast servers to the first few people that sign up. They are testing the servers to see how they the go, and then will be offering a paid shoutcast service after the initial tests are done.

a friend of mine did catch something interesting.. he saw the specs on the first message of the thread and noticed..

"athlons arent multiprocessor capable (well the cpus are technically) but 750mhz would mean slot not socket and the multi cpu socket boards arent even out yet anyway and the lowest speeds on those are 1.2-1.4"

take that for what's it worth
