I smell lies..

How can you have Dual Athlons? The only dual athlon motherboard avaliable is the Tyan Thunder K7 and it isn't in stores yet..

What kind of DDR ram are you using?

All our servers have been down for the last couple of days while we get 300mb of bandwidth installed for various web ventures.

This have meant that our e-mail servers have been out of operation . However I can assure everyone that has had a reply have not got an account on our server, and my is it working well.
Details should be sent out in the coming weeks, we will start a slow roll out to make sure the server can cope.

If you have not received an e-mail, then sorry folks I am afraid that you have not made it this time. However your e-mail is on record and you will get an e-mail very soon...

I have read your posts regarding the dual processor, have informed the tech guys about this. And they will explain to me what is happening and then I will inform you

I hope that you have all lived without me and that you enjoy our new service...

hey klanet maybe i was being to bitchy heres why

Um well im not sure how your going to work this as i have given criticism to this project.
Here is what you need to expect:
Almost every person that signs up at one time probaly wont get more then a few listeners.
(Trust me i know) unless it’s a major radio station just using you for run off bandwidth.
Another if you have the space you say and your crazy (i think its cool if its real) enough to give it a way i think you would be smart enough to allocate less bandwidth for people that dont use it! Sorry but (back to high school DUH!!) if you gotta a guy thats only on for a few hours or has @ max 5 listeners there’s no reason to allocate them enough space to do a hundred @ 128 (it should be earned in traffic!)
If they need more add more.
You are going to set your self up for failure doing it the way you do. I dont mean this in the your gonna be over but the your gonna spend lotsa a time learning and losing money.
I assume the ultimate goal is to be most popular and make a buck, if not then well your.... well... i dont know just a nice person with money just needing to be thrown away. (if thats the case ill say no more)
At any rate id love to use your service. You just need to constructively put things together! At the least gotten some ideas from people realy doing this stuff. Seriously Dont take this the wrong way, please dont. All im saying is id love to take advantage of this and so would many others but the way you’re going about it im afraid just won’t work. How ever i could be very wrong. I realy think you trying to be the new good guy wich is damn cool. Just maybe do some more exploring. THANX the ROACH
p.s. i submitted thid in a email

Thanks for your response.

Well yes you could be right that 1000 people do not read this thread, however we have made the 5 thousand people mark. It is obvious these details have been posted around, this has left us in an awkward position.

Capacity - Yes people may not use all there bandwidth, yes we have anticipated this. However this is what the Trial is for, peak times we could expect the amount of listeners to go up.

So @ 3am in the morning - Very little bandwidth on servers being used...

@ 3pm - Nearly all bandwidth consumed for about 2 hours then bandwidth usage goes right down.

Now we have to balance it out so that even @ peak times no one gets left with a breaking up broadcast... Even if that means we have left over bandwidth a majority of the time...

-- Update --

This is going to be sponsered by about 10 large companys, this will mean adverts....

This will interupt your broadcast just before it starts for about 10 seconds. Also web-space will have a pop-up add....

But this will mean we will be able to support 3 thousand more people in the near future. Also we are expanding into America, this is getting very big very fast...

Kev

ps. this will mean a delay with responding to e-mails. Sorry...

Hey... welcome to live369

If I'm going to get ads tossed in, I would like to pick which ones get to go in. No point in advertising some transsexual night club.. I seriously doubt the people that listen to my stream are interested in one.

There is no current plans for a feature that will let you decide which ones you would like.

However it will only be from our portal partners, so nothing rude... Just will say something like 'This broadcast is being supported by bla associations'

Thats just an example

I would say so.. but if its going to say this broadcast is support by such n such.. I see little problem with that.

I do dislike popup ads, especially when more than one window pops up. Is there anyway we can option for a reasonably sized banner on the index.html (or whatever the 'home' page is)?

OK, everyone will get a reply (hopefully tonight).

We have run into some legal issues, our partners are looking into this now.

All should be ok though.

We are trying to get as many people on the service as possible.

Some bad news, but could be good news.

We have had to take the server off-line today due to legal issues.

-- We are very sorry for anyone that was broadcasting at the time... --

The problem is with Copyright laws at the moment, if we allowed the cont. of broadcasting.... We could be held liable for copyright.

This is going to bring down the server for about 2 weeks while we write some terms and conditions.
The aim is to make the broadcaster the one that is responsible for what they broadcast...

We are very sorry about this

-- ps. Server specs Currently --
1.2 Ghz processor
75 Gb Hard drive
1.5gb RAM
100mb pipe line

We are using AZ11E FIC motherboard - Currently having problems with random lock-ups...

Yep the Kalnet4u.co.uk server is coming on-line now as we speak. Testing it out etc...

E-Mail server is now back-up. We are sending out a big e-mailing list as we speak to all un-succesful applicants, which is predicted to take 24 hours to send to everyone.

If you do not get a reply, it means that you haven't sent your e-mail in time and will be put on the Trial when it is restarted (you should get an e-mail within 48 hours).

Important
From Friday we will all be taken off the Shoutcast project while the T&Cs are written. I will try and answer all your questions up until this time though.
Wish everyone luck and I will be back soon :

Kev

Count me in

I have done a couple of test broadcast's using linein sampling and shoutcast server, but I am using 56k line and it is only reliable with one person connected. I have been looking for a public shoutcast server to make a serious go of it. Good stuff guys
