As I mentioned when the 5.33 beta first came out:
In the install setup, choosing "Full" as the install type does NOT select "USB Devices Support" and "ActiveSync Support" under the "Portable Media Player Support" section. |

Is it just me or is http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/...mp533_full.exe not available? This must be a first...

@ Trent187
Yes, it is by design, because there's apparently been plenty of reports where those plugins have caused problems for people who didn't actually need to install them. Not sure of the actual details, but they have to be manually selected. @ YtseJam Yup, it's gone for now. Sorry. Complain to the management, nothing anyone here can do about it. |

i'd have thought the management were fully aware of the plain (decent) full installer. as for the emusic bundling, tis the joys of a corporate product and i'll now say nothing more (before i go into rant mode)

Sending unicode files to my ipod turns them into question marks, but if i locate the file i just transfered and re enter the unicode text with 'edit selected items...' it sticks. Any way to stop the file transfer from mucking with the unicode?

This isn't related specifically to 5.33, but... what tag type does Winamp read/write from FLAC files? FLAC tag editing in Winamp strikes me as awfully limited compared to, say, ID3v2 editing for an MP3 file.

For flac files, vorbis comments are used (Ogg Vorbis uses vorbis comments too)
Vorbis comments are a flexible tagging system. can't see filesize in the bottom of the library window, as it usially was before. it shows only number of items & time, not the size, like this: 40672 items [116 days+20:03:52] in 3.262 sec

@ Desides
You can use the Edit Selected Item(s) feature of the Media Library to edit those fields, and they will actually be written to the Vorbis Comment tags in the actual FLAC files. It's just that the Nullsoft FLAC plugin is based on the reference FLAC plugin from sourceforge.net, and alas, the internal editor was/is pretty limited. I expect us to eventually get a feature implemented similar to that of the in_vorbis editor where you can add/edit extra fields (eg. via: hide/show special fields / advanced mode). Quote:
Should hopefully be fixed for 5.34. Sorry. |

benski.. for the record that bug I had with ATF and IPC_GETPLAYLISTTITLEW was due to passing the filename pointer returned from the IPC_GETPLAYLISTFILEW IPC to the ATF call.
Thus calling IPC_GETPLAYLISTTITLEW within the ATF processing caused the allocated filename to get deallocated by winamp I guess. The ANSI mode call wasn't a problem because I'm assuming Winamp didn't allocate/free strings on call to the IPC_GETPLAYLISTTITLE IPC. |

Help please. I had 5.32 on win98 se2 working perfectly.
Installed 5.33 and then if I select modern skin I get WINAMP caused a stack fault in module SHLWAPI.DLL at 01b7:70a75048. If I delete winamp.ini and run winamp it goes into classic skin no problem, when fails if I try to change to modern skin. |

SI window - some colour themes don't match what's expected or are unreadable, seems to be missing a bitplane.
Very minor point - selected line colour in the ML not redrawn until next use when changing themes. UJ |

Yes it's true that the ReleaseNotes for v5.3.2.1003 say that: * Fixed: CD burning with Windows 98/ME But unfortunately was not completely true - it was better yes, but still would not work right in most cases. I have not tried 5.33 yet |

For those of us who've installed v5.33 and now find it's apparently been pulled, can anyone please explain why? Under what circumstances are we recommended to downgrade back to 5.32?
A couple of minutes ago, the site was back offering 5.33. Then a minute later it was 5.32 again..... (or are we in fact seeing the effect of unsynchronised web cache propagation around the net?) |

Thanks. It's showing 5.33 again, but it definitely seemed to revert consistently to 5.32 for a period of a few hours earlier today. As you say, servers may be out of step.
Edit: and back to 5.32.... it must be taking some significant time to sync the servers. |

We're having some problems related to the website. Hopefully they should be resolved soon. The problems are unrelated to Winamp 5.33

I edited the instructions in the first post to include a "backup" link.
But basically, for the ML, all you need to copy/backup are: - Winamp\Plugins\gen_ml.ini - Winamp\Plugins\ml folder or for the local media database, specifically: Winamp\Plugins\ml dir: - main.dat - main.idx - recent.dat - recent.idx But yeah, it can't do any harm to backup the entire Winamp folder every now and then... ____________________________________________________________ Note: the location of the files depends on whether you chose 'shared' or 'separate' user settings in the installer options. For shared, the default location (unless you changed it) is: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\... For separate, the default location (under Win2k/XP) is: C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Winamp\Plugins\... Note that the 'Application Data' folder is hidden by default, but you should just be able to type this into the Address bar: %appdata%\winamp |

The website issues are obviously due to the fact that winamp.com is housed across more than one server. Deployment of the updated site is obviously failing to one or more of the group. Obviously, it means that depending on which server you hit (its all transparent so you wouldnt technically know which), you may get an updated site, or an older site.
No doubt it'll be fixed as soon as possible (if it hasnt been already). |

OK, very good. This is the essential upgrade that I was waiting for, full unicode character support. Now there are two more items that should be added for unicode and tag support:
1. Full tag support particularly work (or grouping) 2. Diacritical independent search so when o is entered it finds all instance of o whatever the accent. I realize this is a big item, because finding all of the possible accents on a given ASCII character is a pain in creating the translation table. However just getting the European languages into the table would be fantastic. |
