Opening .php stream in Winamp
Hello,
I did an extensive search of the forums and couldn't find the answer to this seemingly small problem (maybe the answer is obvious, if so apologies). I would like to play a .php file that opens in my browser in Winamp instead (e.g. http://test.com/music/index2.php). Do I need a certain plugin or something? When I try to open it as a URL in Winamp i get a "404 Not Found" message. Thx in advance, kramenots |

Hi
.php is not a media format, it's a scripting language. Look at the source code to determine the actual url for the stream. Also note that some web developers may use the php extension as a mask, ie. where they rename the actual stream extension from eg. filename.wma to filename.php If you require further help, then we will need a working example url. |

I just tried renaming the stream extention to .wma and .mp3 but neither of those worked. I looked at the source but I didn't find any URL's that looked like they were a stream. I'm trying to open "http://viceland.com/videos/logic/index3.php" in "http://www.thestills.net/audiovideo.html"
While I've got your attention, I'm also trying to open "http://www.thezone.fm/zoner_stream.asx" at "http://www.thezone.fm/" in Winamp as well.... Thanks DJ Egg! |

http://viceland.com/videos/logic/index3.php uses an embedded shockwave flash (swf) movie/player > http://viceland.com/videos/logic/index_large.swf. Alas, you can't open or play it in an external player. The swf is internally coded to link to the serverside streams. You might be able to determine the actual stream url's if you save the swf to your HDD and then try to view the swf code in macromedia flash/fireworks.
For the .asx stream, either install the Playlist Loader plugin for direct .asx support, or save the .asx playlist to your hard drive first, open it in Notepad and then copy+paste the actual stream url into Winamp's Open/Add url dialog... which in this case is: mms://stream.TheZone.fm/TheZone/ Note, if you're not using Winamp 5.12 or 5.13 Full, with the included Windows Media Decoder v3.0 (in_wm.dll), then you need to add /.wma to the end of the stream url for it to work in older versions of winamp/in_wm.dll [edit] ahh, crap, it's another of those 'optimized for WMP9/10 only' streams, ie. all you get in other players is the short intro at the beginning, and it never moves on to the actual stream (I've just been dealing with another similar case here). Sorry, heh. You'll need to contact zonefm and ask them to make their stream compatible with other players (as explained in the other thread). |

The Stills - Logic Will Break Your Heart - tracklist
http://viceland.com/videos/logic/1a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/2a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/3a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/4a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/5a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/6a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/7a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/8a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/9a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/10a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/11a.swf http://viceland.com/videos/logic/12a.swf You can try saving those to your HDD (rt-click > save target as) and then play them in any app which supports .swf (eg. any browser, irfanview, etc) The only way to get them to play in Winamp would be by installing the Powerplayer2 plugin. If doing so, then you can configure it to just handle .swf via: Winamp > Prefs > PowerPlayer (otherwise it'll make itself the default handler in Winamp for all video filetypes). ps. Yes, I was bored... and I always love a good challenge ;-) |

Wow, thanks Egg. Is there anyway to get Winamp to play the .swf files as a stream without downloading them first?
Also, any idea if future versions of Winamp will allow streaming of .asx? |
