Conflict between plug-ins.

Due to some laptop problems, I had to change from Win95 to Win98. It took some doing to get Winamp2.81(x86) working again, including reloading SAPI.
See:

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=125348

So, I load that up and then load up the rest of my plug-ins and find now that if I have Chun-Yu's MP3 Writer loaded, or MP3 encoder plug- in from Peter Pawlowski I cannot configure SqrSoft's Advanced Crossfade plug in. I wrote SqrSoft and their only advice was to install in a clean re-install of Winamp.

I get the following error when trying to configure the Crossfade plug in...

WINAMP caused an exception 10H in module
MSVCRT.Dll at 0167:7802ffdl.

<SNIP>

The crossfade plug in worked fine before I changed over and had my crash and all that.

I am running Win98, 32bit fat.

Ideas? Help!

BTW....

I just installed this same setup on to a machine that has always had Win98 and never had WinAmp on it. The exact same thing happens.

Ok, now, any ideas?

That's a bug in SqrSoft code.
Solution? Don't use it

What then?

Ok, well that makes sence. I hate to think of not having it because I like the mixed sound of playing music with the cross fading. Winamp3 does not seem to offer a way to read CD's and write MP3's. and it tends to crash on my machine. Any other ideas on how to get what I want?

You can only use one Output plugin at once.
So, if MP3 Output plugin is selected in Prefs -> Output, then this is the active Output plugin. Only one Output plugin can be active... so I'm not really sure what it is you want to do.

You can use the default DirectSound Output plugin for crossfading, though you need to turn these features on in the out_ds config.
imho, it's better than SqrSoft and much less problematic.

You can use more than one Output plugin by using an extra plugin:

Output Stacker (use multiple output plugins together)

Output Splitter plug-in (lets you use two output plug-ins at once), by John Adcock:

SqrSoft also do a crossfading DiscWriter plugin, but I found this to be as equally buggy as the normal SqrSoft XFader
