Making visualizations react to any music played on the computer

Dears,

Winamp has always been (and still is) an excellent product.

Although all of the functionality is free I paid a couple of times to support the development.

What I particularly adore is the visualizations...

Nowadays however you have players like Spotify which serve music in a non-mp3 format.

Of course you can rip music from it with Audacity and play it in winamp (I didn't say that out loud now did I?)

But legally (for starters it would be really nice if you could fire up Spotify/any music player, fire up winamp and let winamp react on the music currently played on the computer,

Put winamp in fullscreen mode and have a nice splendid background setting in your living room...

I don't know how you guys/gals think about this?

It's in my wishlist for sure!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

Please scroll down to my note "Mixlr And Stereomix"...
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stern...=page_internal

Did You already try the URL "linein://" in Winamp? If Stereomix is on the computer, enabled and choosen as default recording device (please check out also the volume), then You can start Milkdrop and play every music on the many music websites...

For me when I use line in the mic on my laptop is the input for winamp and it works great, even reacts to voices and all other noises in the environment. To make it fullscreen on a secondary monitor here is what I did:

Options>Visualization>Configure Plug In (To enter this screen you cannot have the Visualization tab open)

Common Settings Tab>
The changes you will make are in the Fullscreen Settings portion
Display Adapter> In the drop down menu select 2. Then check Use Fake fullscreen mode

Click the DualHead button (bottom right)
On this screen there are two drop down menus. BOTH should be "span both screens"

This worked for me and my setup. I hope this helps =)

spotify

Hey Guys/gals,

Thanks for the answers and I hate to be specific but I really like spotify and have a great deal of songs (which change regularly) and milkdrop would just be splendid as a background with it...

The web player of spotify is no option because it requires flash,

I don't suspect winamp to support flash sites

Any other ideas then buy a mic for my desktop?

Thanks for the responses already

I always saw Spotify as a big rival for Winamp. Currently I am playing music on YouTube, but I do that also very often on SoundCloud.

Here we had discussed very much about Stereomix...
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=366311
And many other useful links can be found there.

Mostly for notebooks there are no sounddrivers with Stereomix. Then only a microphone can be used, and also something else can be connected at the input jack, for example from a synthesizer or another computer, if the notebook has 2 seperate jacks yet.

Edit:
You can download "Radio Streams 2012" from my journal with the streams playlists. The 1st item is the URL "linein://"...
