Difference between Artist, Arranger and Composer?

Well, the title speak for itself.

When tagging my mp3's, some mp3's from anime/game OST are not well tagged and lack of the information about Artist, Composer and Arranger.

When bump into such situation, I quickly search in the Net and managed to grab myself some information about them. However, sometimes I must say that I'm unsure whether to tag the artist column in the composer and arranger or not and vice-versa.

Here's the point, what is the differences between artist, composer and arranger anyway. As far as I'm concered, I think composer is the person who write music, arranger is the person who remix/modified the music. As for the artist, is it the person who sing the song? If the song is instrumental, is it exclude the artist name as no one is singging the vocal?

Composer: wrote the melody and harmonies.
Arranger: wrote parts for different instruments based on what the composer did:
Artist: performs or records the piece.

Something to consider is that most non-PC audio players - like car audio systems and portable MP3 players - only read a few of the tags from your audio tracks. These are usually the artist, title and album tag fields. If you put anything into tags other than these, non-PC audio players will likely not display them. This is why I only use the "artist" tag whether I'm listing the artist, composer or arranger.

And for most modern types of music, "artist" refers to the name of the band (Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd, etc.) For classical music, I list the composer in this tag (Mozart, Wagner, etc.) for the reason described above.
