station search API

Is there any programmatic API or web service or something of that sort to be able to submit a search by Genre or some other criteria (station name, bitrate, encoding, number of listeners etc) to Shoutcast.com and get the list of stations?

I cant seem to find anyone who has done it. I wish to develop my own player which lists the stations available.

Nope! That and you need permission from AOL to use the listing in anything that isn't Winamp (or SHOUTcast.com)

You can search the shoutcast directory with a script provided by shoutcast.com.

In this examples i searched for my radio station:

http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml.phtml?search=TechnoBase
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml.phtml?genre=Techno%20Trance%20Dance%20House

That's precisely what I was looking for. However, how do you get it to include the URL of the station?

It seems to return all the station info (name, bitrate, listener count) however its missing the most important thing, the URL.

OK I think I found out how it should be done.

After the search: http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml...rch=TechnoBase

The ID you get in each entry can be used here
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=NNN

and the playlist for that station is downloaded.
