shoutcast connection limit

Currently we run around 15 shoutcast 1.9.8 Servers on Windows machines.
All together they serve up to 46000 concurrent Connections.
Now we would like to migrate these to the latest shoutcast Version

I have read that there are Connection limitations with a max of 1000 Connections.
This would basically mean a blocker for our planned upgrade.

a) is there a way to optimize the System to serve as many Connections as the old Version 1.9.8 ?
b) can I relay the barix mp3 stream from an older shoutcast 1.9.8 to a new ?
the debug log always popps up with "bad frame found" from the older stream.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards
