MilkDrop Rules...thx Ryan :)

Ryan,

I just wanted to thank you for creating the Milkdrop plugin. A friend of mine (Perplex) made it to the finals of a competition for up and coming musicians. When the night of the finals arrived, we decided to take a PC with us and use Milkdrop to provide some visuals!

The performance went great, the crowd went crazy, and my friend ended up winning the contest, which should now enable him to start his musical career of for real. Afterwards, a few newspapers wrote articles about the performance. One of the stories even mentioned something along the lines of: " The visuals used during Perplex's performance made the VJ shows of the other artists live sets, look a bit pale" . Huge smiles on my face face, since this means that your plugin made more impact than the stuff the resident VJ did (and he had like 5 computers running Adobe Premiere).

Below I've included a few links for you to check out (if you have the time, afcourse).

BTW: Do you have any plans to implement MIDI syncing into Mildrop? This would be the ultimate wantfeature that would reduce the plugin's latency to virtually zero, without the need for a big processor.

Anyway, thanx again for your hard work and I hope you will make more stuff like Milkdrop in the future.

For those interested, there's a 20 minute videostream of this performance, with heavy Milkdrop footage , available from: http://www.fabchannel.com/uploadfiles/perplex_300.asx (I had to paste this in windows mediaplayer to make it work)

Grtz,
Daniel

http://www.groteprijs.nl/HTML/dance/finale.html

is a 404.

Want to see if any of my stuff was used.

I have noticed that too. It is dead easy to do too....but don't tell anyone.

HAve you tried the low latency plug-in at

Jaspers stops loads of the delay. What I using when I do live VJ gigs. Works really well.

Hmm works fine here but make sure you are using mplayer 7 (the big ugly one ). BTW the stream looks to be 5 mins, but actually keeps on going until 20mins or so.

Yep, they redid the site and that content is gone.

Cool! I'll try that one out ASAP.

I get the same as rova - no image. And I'm using Mplayer 8 (for winXP) - it tells me I should be watching it at 306k/s, and I'm only watching it at 3.4...

Well I have the file here on my harddisk but it's 200mb (DivX) and there are two problems, the biggest being where could I store this file to make it available to the public? Also, my upload sucks, but I could ask a friend who has a good upstream speed to upload it somewhere.

As far as streaming it...I have no idea how that works...never tried it (the linked streaming file was not put there by me)

You might want to try accessing it from a different program/computer though, because some people, including me, have been able to watch the streaming version. If all else fails I guess we should find a place where to store this file.

Update

Just an update to this topic (and a shameless plug for the artist involved )

The videos mentioned in this topic are now available for viewing in both MP 6.4 and 7.0 format from http://www.pavelmusic.com

Perplex is working on his new liveset (mp3s will be posted soon) and august the 3rd we'll be performing on http://www.dancevalley.nl - so expect a new video with lots of Milkdrop stuff shortly after the performance!

Elek

Still no joy.

http://www.fabchannel.com/uploadfiles/perplex_300.asx

still don't run. Me no understand.

Edit: Arr runs in IE not Mozilla (but that is probably my fault) but is pretty unusable on 56k though. I will find someone with a big pipe.

Hehe that could be true - I never tested the site to work on Mozilla
