xp pro/winamp 2.7 limited account problem

I'm trying to create a really limited user account in xp pro so that a user can surf the net and play music, but not do installs, delete stuff, etc. When i try to play an mp3 in winamp 2.7 i'm getting some weird error message. I know it must be something to do with file permissions but i've tried giving admin rights to c:\windows and the winamp folder but to no avail. Sorry i'm not being very specific, but i'm not at home and i thought i'd give the forum a try anyway!

Thanks in advance,

Although we don't support old versions here (current public release version is 2.90), and we could do with knowing the exact error message, try the
Winamp Profiler plugin.

Yeah, sorry about amount of time taken to reply, but here's the error msg:

The specified format is not supported or cannot be translated. Use the Capabilities function to determine the supported formats.

The title bar has 'Nullsoft waveOut plug-in v2.2' in it.

Thanks in advance,
Jason H.

You should be using DirectSound Output in WinXP, not waveOut Output.
(Prefs -> Plugins -> Output)
And, as far as I know, this problem was fixed in Winamp v2.81
