Yet again, trying to make Winamp display Japanese characters.
Currently I'm using 5.33 lite. Through a full uninstall and reinstall I got winamp to actually recognize the japanese characters in the ID3 tag field (great success!), but it still doesn't recognize them in the tracklist field. only, instead of showing up as question marks as it used to, it shows up as vertical bars. So that's a step above where I was before, but I still want them to display properly.
Does this not work for lite at all? Do I have to be using a modern skin (ugh) for this support)? |

well, I'm using a modern skin now, and just like before, it displays in the tag window but not the playlist.
it boggles me how they added unicode support without really adding unicode support. Last edited by FallenTabris; 25th February 2007 at 01:01. |

Apparently people no longer care about this, either.

Seeing vertical bars or boxes means that the font isn't working. Have you installed the Windows East Asian language & fonts pack?

I have the windows support for the language. Windows supports it fine. I just want winamp to be able to show the characters instead of a series of question marks or gibberish (japanese ID3 tag input no longer works). I don't want to have to go download the japanese windows IME and switch my freaking input type to japanese just to be able to see the characters. This is annoying as hell.

finally found what you have to do to make it work.
http://mullemeck.serveftp.org/jps_be...pic.php?t=4926 have to change all font settings to tahoma. I wish someone told me that months ago. :/ |
