Winamp won't connect to shoutcast server

HI, i kinda have a problem. I just switched to ATT U-verse and now have started using their router...2wire...but now when I try to stream winamp wont connect to the server. I have the ports open in the router, have used outside source to make sure they r. Server starts up just fine no errors, but when I try to connect winamp to the server it sits at connecting, then disconnects. It is not winamp because we can connect to another server and stream. Any ideas will be appreacited.

Vital info:

ports in router and in winamp and shoutcast server: 8080, 8081 both TCP and UDP.

Firewall on computer shut off...cannot turn off router firewall.

what server? Your server? The DSP won't connect to your DNAS? Are you running the server yourself, or using a third-party host?

If they are both on the same computer, just use localhost for the hostname/address. Verify your port matches that in the DNAS config as well.

Thank you for the reply, yes it is my server, on my desktop, same computer as winamp is running. I tried what you said with putting the address as "localhost" in winamp, also put that in port in server, and it did connect but now I get...

<04/01/08@06:36:05> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<04/01/08@06:36:05> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Port cannot be zero.)

how do I fix that? Thank you for the help

Open up the DNAS config. Look for PortBase, set it to something like 8000. Mostly, not zero.

ok, thank you, winamp is now connecting to the server....but one more question, how do I get people to get to the server for outside the computer. I tried to access my stream from an outside source..(laptop) and it would not connect to the stream, tried IP address, and tried to find the stream through Shoutcast.com, but could not find it. let me know if you have any ideas...thanx

you need your external ip address,

available here,
http://www.streamsolutions.co.uk/myipaddress/

you will not be able to connect from inside your network via your external ip address as your router doesn't allow local loopback.

I tried to have a friend access my stream using my ip address with port, and he said that he can not connect, here is how I have the system set up per the first reply to this post...

dsp: Address localhost, port 8080, password (secert..lol).

dnas: port 8080, 25 users

Like I said above, when I have my ip address in the dsp it will not connect to the server, localhost does...all needed ports r open in my router i.e. 8080, 8081, 80. And everthing did work before I switched to this Att u-verse modem and router.

you dont need to be doing anything with the router settings as it says its working in the logs.

<04/01/08@17:35:58> [dest: 205.188.234.99] starting stream (UID: 0)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0)

<04/01/08@17:36:11> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully

use localhost in the dsp as your ip will not work.

so still have ppl connect using my ip address, and they should be able to get through to the server??

I stream into second life, and when I had a friend try when I had localhost in the DSP they could not connect.

correct

you use localhost they use.

http://76.201.95.8:8080 allthough there is no server here

once we have tested the server here and it works you can go and do your stuff with second life with confidence.

what was done to resolve this?

I am having the same issue. I finally figured out how to use the config builder and got the stream to work locally, but when a friend uses my wan:8000 to connect is does not let them.
The SC DNAS says the stream us up and public when I have the server and DSP running locally on my one system and I am able to hear the stream locally via my smartphone over the local wifi.

i would check that the source is actually running correctly and providing audio for the stream as the title which is sent appears to be trying to play itself which could likely cause some of the issues you're seeing - mainly in that the clients are able to briefly connect but then timeout - a likely indicator of not having any stream audio to provide to the client.
