Final Fantasy VIII Plugin and Windows 8

Back when my computer was running Windows 7, I wanted to play .sgt files. I had found a plugin that sort of worked, but to be honest I gave up trying after that and used a different program.
Now I have Windows 8. I can't find that program anymore, but I found out that there was another plugin available for Winamp, "Final Fantasy VIII plug-in 1.1". I installed it, and now Winamp recognizes .sgt files... but instead of letting me play them, it just crashes.
I get the following error message: "Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Then it says that "Winamp has stopped working" and gives me the following information when I click "View problem details":

My system is Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. I tried reinstalling the plugin in compatibility mode, but that didn't help either.

the issue is the plug-in and not Winamp directly (as the bug reports forum is intended for). unless you can get an updated / fixed version from the plug-in author (which if it's the one i'm thinking off then that's not going to be happening), the only thing to do is remove the plug-in.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I can't find any other plugins that can supposedly play .sgt files. Does that mean I won't be able to?
