shoutcast / winamp over serial / USB port?

I am thinking about experimenting with the new IEEE 802.15.4 wireless spec to provide a low bitrate (115 kbps and below) always-on music stream on 2.480 GHz (e.g., Zigbee channel 16), up out of the way of the Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g) channels. Most units on the market have serial interfaces (RS232 or USB). Are there any plans to let Shoutcast stream to a serial or USB port, and have Winamp be able to read in from a serial or USB port? (Sorry if this has beeen asked before.)
Thanks.

I have seen virtual serial ports that run over ethernet, I wonder if you might not be able to find the opposite. Can't you make the Zigbee module look like a USB connected ethernet adapter?

Your mileage may vary!
