Line-in not loud

im using shoutcast to stream off line in. When i have my iPod plugged in, it works fine, and you can here everything just fine on the listoners side.

If i plug in my Police Scanner (wich is was will normaly be pluged in) everything has to be on max volume for you to here it on the listoner side.

Is it possible to amplify it where people can hear it?

I'm unsure about what kind of output there is on the scanner, but maybe you can go to Radioshack and pick up a small mixer and put it between the scanner and the computer. Consider it a preamp.
