Lookin' for someone else's thoughts....

At the moment, the ticker is blue and all the other bits that will be skinned by it are the grey in the background. I've been considering it for a while, but still can't decide if I want to incorporate some light grey over the blue or add more blue over the grey....should I rearrange the title bar in the main? I kinda like the layout now......at a loss. really piss-poor planning on my part. it seems whatever I try makes the main look really crowded. Do I kill the posbar, maybe make it slimmer as part of the grey?

Any other comments are welcome.I know my Photoshop skills are not up to par - that's OK. I don't plan on submitting anything until I hit some tuts on highlighting and whatnot.I feel like my ideas are beyond my skills right now. but I still need to finish this thing, so I'm asking.
Oh - and I know the buttons on the Minibrowser have got to go..they look too crushed together.

Thanks

Looks pretty good. Remember that the playlist text is the same as the main window title text, so that'll have to be blue as well.

Not a bad start, but it's a bit bevelly. With some more detail it'll be a nice skin though.

Oh, and some of the lighting effects dont seem quite right (buttons especially).

hmmm...

Well, it gets the point across...Anyhow, sorry I posted so early in this skin life. I was just tired of staring at it or something - and it did get me looking at the highlights (I know I suck at them) Here's the next round (subject to change) I'm still playing around with the highlights around the Eq buttons....hopefully, I'll kill off beverly some day.

which buttons did you mean Atmo? the Cbuttons or the others? the others have a nasty black border I have to ditch...can you be more specific?

thanks.

Well the blue parts of the background seem to have a light source from directly overhead, the buttons light source seems to be coming from the bottom left, but the areas around the buttons and eq sliders look to have a light source from the top right (as they look more like carves then bevells).

I shouldn't have been so rude in my first post
I actually quite like the skin, but there's something that's not quite right about it that's being caused by the bevels. I think if there was some depth in the bg (maybe shadows where the other things are on top of it?) it wouldn't look so odd (for lack of a better word)

That's OK. I'm not that thin-skinned. I originally posted to get some ideas and was instead pointed to where I need improvement. That's a good thing. I'll never get any better being told what I'm doing right (if anything at this point)

I'm not even sure why I'm trying to work a 3D skin. I don't use them, but guess I enjoy trying to paint them. This one will probably never get finished. There's a reason it's titled "skin5". I'm up to 7 now.

Thanks for the comments, at least....

Well, it seems I keep going back to this thing...no matter how hard I try not to.

Anyway, I'm finally around to playing with the Library....Is there a way to get rid of the dots that outline the buttons when they're pressed? Forgive me if this is a stupid question. Thanks.

Nope. The programmers decided to go with quite the Windows-based skin engine for gen and genex... unfortunate, but true.

If you want full(er) control, it's got to be WA3( or Sonique or WMP or JetAudio, etc.)
