stop auto-generates playlist on song play

I've used Winamp for over 3 years now and still find this completely annoying. When I double-click a song to play, Winamp auto-generates a playlist of a bunch of songs in the playlist. Why is that? And can I turn this off?

The only way I can see to avoid this is to drag n' drop a song into a list and then play from the playlist. This is brain dead..

I'd appreciate a howto if it is out there. Thank you.

If I understand correctly, when you click on a Media Library playlist item , it will play all the files/items (instead of just the selected file) in the Playlist Editor (AKA main/current playlist). Try the following…
  1. Winamp > Ctrl+P (for Preferences)
  2. Media Library > 'Library Options' tab
  3. in the 'Double Click or Enter Options' box uncheck Play all items and Play search results. Additionally, depending on your preference, you may want to change the option in the 'Double click or Enter in the Library:' dropdown menu.
  4. close out of Prefs

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.
