Cancel burn?

I have v.5.35 and 5.5, and it was a good thing, because v.5.5 refused to accept a playlist, after I made some changes. I closed it, and opened 5.35. The playlist burned successfully.
The problem started when I wanted to close Winamp. It told me that I have to cancel burn before being able to close Winamp.
I had not selected another burn, but even after I gave up, and put in another disk, it would not do a thing.
After finding nothing to cancel burn, I tried three more times before I closed 5.35.
What's going on? How does one cancel a burn? The only answer was ok, when I got the popup. Ok to what?
This is the first time that I have had any serious problems with Winamp. I am keeping two versions because I have always feared some nutty behavior, and I sure got it.
