Ipod Nano 5g support
I wish for Ipod Nano 5g support. I hate going back to Itunes to have to sync my ipod... Any news on this? I heard it would be available from version 5.58, but when is that coming out?

no eta and i didn't think the internal plugin versions even work with it currently (though i'm probably wrong as i don't have anything apple so i'm not too bothered to pay attention).

ipod 5g nano is still work in progress
for the plugin itself it comes with the install of winamp for your issue you will have to delete a file on the winamp player itself (winamp.ini or something similar it should be the only ini file on the player) to have winamp reread the player most likely it is stored (at least on my 4g it is) player drive letter:\iPod_Control\iTunes this will only work if you are in manually manage media mode thanks rob (c)rob 2013 (picture & SN) (please note) As users we can't give others help unless we get full details of the problem that you are having |

winamp writes some type of file to the ipod player identifying it and telling what files are on the player
are there any files that have winamp or pmp_ipod as a name if it does delete these files so winamp will reask you what the player is when you plug it in or open winamp since i do not have a 5th gen ipod i'm a little lost in the file names stored thanks rob (c)rob 2013 (picture & SN) (please note) As users we can't give others help unless we get full details of the problem that you are having |

I'm also trying to get the 5G to recognize with the newer version of winamp. I found a file called pmp_ml.ini and deleted it but Winamp is still not detecting the Ipod.
I attached a list of everything (other than the music folder) that is on the Ipod. Do you see any other files that might need to be removed? Quote:

i believe the one meta data never index and itunesdb.old
are the files that also need to be removed for winamp to reregister the ipod again since i do not own the 5th gen i can not be certain if all else fails reformat the ipod, unplug it, wait for reboot, plug unit in, reconfigure itunes(if installed), close itunes, open winamp and it should reregonize it (only do this if you dont care what is on the player) thanks rob (c)rob 2013 (picture & SN) (please note) As users we can't give others help unless we get full details of the problem that you are having Last edited by robdog2004; 19th July 2010 at 18:29. they are still working on the plugin for the 5th gen ipod and are still trying to iron out the kinks in it they know about the issues you are talking about thanks rob (c)rob 2013 (picture & SN) (please note) As users we can't give others help unless we get full details of the problem that you are having |

I just want to express my gratitude to the developers who are working on getting a future version of Winamp to recognize a 5th gen Nano. iTunes is indescribably nasty to use and Apple's sanctimonious attitude towards it is reprehensible. A walled garden is a manifestation of a closed mind.

i don't get why people keep bumping this - if there had been a change then it would be stated in the Winamp release notes which has not happened.
also there has not been _any_ official comment made in these forums about support for newer generations of the iPods being supported even if people have taken other user's comments as meaning that / being 'official'. -daz |
