Thank you Nitorami, love your work.
Great to have WACUP/Milkrop2 + your viz. Best combo out there. Was worried it would phase out. Keep up the good work. Cheers, |

Hi Martin,
Much respect for the presets you've released over all these years. What an epic thread this has become! I wanted to reach out and share a crazy idea with you. First an introduction... I've been working with a friend on NestDrop so that people can perform with the reactive visuals. We have also extended Milkdrop beyond its original design by adding Spout Sprites, which allows for some interesting new possibilities. After curating and organizing the cream of the crop collection and also mashing up my own presets, it's pretty amazing to see the wide array of visuals that have been created. Milkdrop is 19 years old and there is a new generation of people that are experiencing Milkdrop for the first time. There is still a huge landscape of possible visuals that could be created and many proficient programmers that would enjoy creating presets. But the technical approach of using Winamp to write code for a brand new preset is not an entirely clear process. So I was wondering if you would consider recording a screencast that shares your thought process of how you create an original preset. I think it could help to revitalize the Milkdrop community. Please contact me if you're interested and we can discuss it some more. I would be willing to pay you a fee for your efforts. |

Gold rush
I had hoped this could become a bit more interesting, but faster movements or reaction to beat just did not work and ruined it completely. Same with additional waves or shapes, fancy backgrounds, it all looked stupid. It's rather static therefore.

This sound nice! Hope you can share the screencast here when available, and on the currently active Winamp spaces, like the WACUP community or Reddit. |

I had a chat with Isosceles; please don't expect me to do that sort of thing. I can explain tricks and answer technical questions (and I did that before, with very little resonance), but the process how to create milkdrop presets as such... to me it's is a mixture of (still) some enthusiasm, sometimes also boredom during these Covid times, experience of how milkdrop works, what its limitations are, inspiration from various sources, a bit of maths, trial and error, and a lot of time. I can't make a tutorial from that. What would I have to say, frankly ? |

ahhh don't worry about it, I just imagined some sort of interview, asking a mix of milkdrop and personal stuff (what sparked your interest in Milkdrop originally? Is there any use of some of your presets that you are particularly proud of? - like in a videoclip or projected somewhere- Do you use Winamp to listen to music? (if you do) Do you have a preferred skin or just go default? What's your current job / profession? Do you have more time (to do presets) now with the pandemic? What is your typical source of inspiration?, etc). That sort of things. But I guess it wasn't like that, it's ok!

Very nice! It's a shame it doesn't work in Poweramp on android.

Indeed. Poweramp seems to handle shapes differently; even much simpler presets using many shapes are not displayed as they should. I am sorry, but I cannot fix that.

I understand, but can you help me make a similar visualization using my application? Using Poweramp spectrum objects.
you can create vis in winamp and put in to /android/data/_com.maxmpz.audioplayer/milk_presets after that opening it in Poweramp Spectrum Kit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...lk.spectrumkit To edit code in editor enter to pro mode on about page in app |

Here is something for you to tinker with. It works reasonably on the PC, but not so well on the smartphone, and there is a difference between portrait and landscape. Don't know why. Again, it seems poweramp does a few things differently. That gets on my nerves. Please see for yourselves if you can improve it, I definitely won't start editing presets on the smartphone.

![]() Retouch of "escape (sigur ros)" makes it sound like a mashup/remix. This is more than that. This is essentially completing the idea Shifter started out on by giving the abstract motifs a narrative. Visiting this quiet place once in a while reveals gems like these! |
