MP3 to format for ringtones
Does anyone know of an output plugin or program that will compress mp3's to a point low enough for ringtones? I'm looking for a factor of about 1kbps. I have tried the various settings in the disk_writer plugin with no success. All of the settings create files without enough compression.
Any help or links would be greatly appreciated. |

You can use an audio editor program to convert to wav, downsample to 2000 Hz, convert to mono, crop it down to five or ten seconds with a fadeout, then save that file to mp3. The end result will be around 10kbps. I don't use a mobile phone so I don't know the maximum filesize you can use, but this'll definitely make the file smaller. You should check the hydrogenaudio forums to see if there's a LAME setting that helps you go smaller--but at hydrogen they tend to move in the opposite direction, bigger files and higher fidelity.
