A fixed ml_playlists.dll is available here The installers have now been silently updated to include the above fix. A new ml_disc.dll is also included which fixes a ripping bug with m3u generation. The installer and your winamp.exe version # should now be 5.2.3.672 If you've still got 5.2.3.669 from the 8th June then we recommended updating. Note, the new builds do NOT include the latest dev version of JTFE (gen_jumpex). 21st June 2004 5.24 released - winamp.exe = 5.2.4.703 | in_midi.dll updated Everything else is exactly the same as 5.23 ____________________________________________________________________ For info about the "green toolbars" and/or "image not found" issue with some 3rd-party modern skins, see here. Also refer to the Undocumented section of the "5.22 Released" thread and the whole 5.23 Beta thread for more info. Also note the new item on Screen 6 of the installer options (bundle versions): "Get AOL Active Security Monitor - its FREE!" ;-) ____________________________________________________________________ Please do not post any issues in this thread which require Tech Support (eg. unreproducable crashes, slow load times, strange error messages, etc). Please post them in a new thread in the Tech Support forum, and remember to include all relevant info. Reproducable bugs should be posted in the Bug Reports forum, but be sure to read the stickys in there first and follow the guidelines/supply all the required info etc (ie. your report will be invalid otherwise). ______________________________________________ Old Winamp 5.23 Beta thread Old Winamp 5.22 Released thread Old Winamp 5.21 Released thread Old Winamp 5.2 Released thread __________________________________ |

As i mentioned in the 5.23 beta post, there is a special hidden treat in this release.
If you add the line "TrueSync=1" under "[ml_pmp]" in your winamp.ini, you will have the option of deleting files not matching your sync query when you hit sync. This feature will be filled out properly very soon. DO NOT PM ME WITH TECH SUPPORT QUESTIONS |

Wow, now there's spyware in the installer? Great.
Still skin bugs, not as bad as in 5.22 tho. |

Fixed drag+drop m3u playlist file into an ml playlist (before it just added the filename as a single entry instead of parsing the full m3u/pls).
Fixed a crash on startup issue in xml.w5s caused by unchecking Shoutcast Wire in the installer options but still having an older version of ml_wire.dll in the Plugins dir. And I think that's about it for the difference between beta666 and Final. @ spawn again There's no spyware in the installer. As referenced in the main post above, there's some (optional) AOL Security Monitor thing which you can uncheck on screen 6 of the installer options (along with emusic), which just places a shortcut icon on the desktop that leads to the actual download on download.com. If you don't uncheck it, then that's what you get... and a simple hi-lite and hit on the Delete key is all that takes to get rid of it. Though I assumed most people who visit these forums would know the link to the non-bundle build by now, heh ;-) [Edit] Hi DrO :-) |

New! Digital Music Store - 2,000,000 songs - wtf?
New! In2TV - Free episodes of classic TV - wtf? New! Portable Device Sync - Supports iPod®, PlaysForSure®, and Creative® Devices - ok that can make sense. New! Enhanced Media Library New! Online Services - ads? New! SingingFish Media Search - ?? Integrated SHOUTcast Radio & TV Supports Modern and Classic Skins AOL Radio Featuring XM - ... SHOUTcast Wire Podcast Directory Predixis MusicMagic Dynamic Playlists Well that list is pretty crappy. I like how this thread shows bugfixes, but is there a version minus all the crap? I like how it is and I use MMD3 skin (so lite version is out). This seems like a ploy to add more stuff (portals etc). Whatever happened to the audio player? ![]() I'm always saddened when a company buys out a good and small program. They always try to add more and more stuff and make it the only program a person should need ignoring the fact that it was made to do one thing originally (and probably why people liked it). Quote:

The Lite version. Or you can just uncheck what you don't want in the installer. Pay attention to it and don't blindly hit next.

The emusic and the get active security monitor should be unchecked by default imho. Or just like the previous install like the components page (the rest is, except the bottom two, why?). |

because the powers that be say they should be checked by default and that's what the people in suits in offices decide (ain't it just grand). the simple option is don't get one of the bundle downloads and then you can click next as much as you like without all the extra stuff in there

By switching from "Winamp Classic" to "Winamp Modern" disappears Winamp but the music is still available!
In Taskmanager is Winamp normaly alive. By switching back ... and all other Skins working correct. What's wrong? |

Just download the pro installer. the "bundles" arent in it (except for pigdicksis, which remembers its previous installer option). Dropping links on a desktop isnt really a bundle anyway, jumpex is a bundle, pigdicksis is a bundle, ok, maybe emusic is (since it has a systray installer stub).

hi,
i just downloaded 5.23 and thanx a lot by the way for the new version. one concern though... it seems that the sync function with my 5th gen video ipod is not working with this release. i tried the synch and it actually synched the files that were in my library but not on the ipod but when i tried browsing through the songs in my ipod i couldn't find any thing, winamp shows them but when i tried to listen to them on the ipod i found nothing.... although it seems the files are there but there is somthing wrong.. i formated my ipod and then synched all the songs another time ... and still the same thing.... how can i fix this.... i am back to 5.21 and it is back to normal... thanx Shoot me again I ain't dead YET |

It's fully official, just that we can't officially link to it here due to license agreements (emusic, etc). You'll find sites like betanews.com, hydrogenaudio.org, neowin.net, download.com, winampheaven.net, etc, etc, all link to it, because they can.

Still wondering why the Creative NJB plugin doesn't support direct playback from non-PFS players, like the old Zen plugin used to...

BTW, is it planned for the future to handle the ML plugins seperately in the installer?
Now, every time that I update Winamp (eg. 5.23 Beta -> 5.23 Final) all the ML plugins that I had manually diabled are re-installed. eeeee eeeeeee eeeee eeeee eeeee 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 88 8eee8 8e 8 8 8eee8 8e 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 8 88 8 88 8 8 88 8 88 8 8eee8 |

and i'm seeing more and more stupid ass posts. if you don't like the online services feature, just uninstall the online services plugin (simple eh?). ads are present but have been so for a good 2 years now i think and that's unfortunately what's needed to keep the project going since what's the point of AOL paying for the Winamp development when there's no financial return to it's outlay.
either get over it, uninstall the relevant parts or just go somewhere else and put your head back in the sand. -daz |

Hmm... maybe I should change the subject to:
"Winamp 5.23 Released - all trolls welcome" :-p If you can't work out how to uncheck/not checkmark what you don't want in either the installer options or in the Online Services root view, then don't come crying to anyone here :/ |

@carmatic and michelhack: Just have a look what Winamp can look like: All stuff that I do not need is disabled: a clean classic skin, fast (mostly 0% CPU usage with rare peaks up to 4%), low mem consumption (3.872K with Winamp and the ML open), no ads, just that what I need. It just connects to the internet when I click onto the shoutcast icon). Nothing to moan about.

@carmatic and michelhack:
The library is flexible. Just uncheck what you don't like. Maybe you can show me, how to uninstall Online Services in Real or Windows Media player...right it's not possible. ![]() My Winamp Info Report | My Winamp Backup Log | My WACUP Info Report Own Projects: | Winamp Tray Control Icon Pack v3.5.3 | Winamp Backup Tool v3.6.0 | >> Winamp Info Tool v6.1.0 << | German Translations: | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei v5.66 | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei Plus Version 5.666 Useful Winamp Plug-ins: | SNESAmp | 64th Note | NotSo FatSo | Highly Experimental PSF Player | Yar Matey! I haven't used Winamp in months now, due to the massive Online Services bug present in 5.2
So I see that 5.23 is out, and I figure I'll give it a shot. Thanks for fixing what you claimed wasn't broken. Plan on unbanning any of the irate forum users who were banned for getting upset about Online Services errors in 5.2? |

Hmm... is the title of this thread "Discuss the Online Services feature here"?
No, it isn't. I think you'll find that thread here. It doesn't matter what the topic or reason was, if someone trolls\flames on these forums, then they get banned. Simple as that. |

Strange bug
Does Winamp support Wave Audio (*.wav)? It is an interesting question.
Let me explain, why i ask it. I have currently 5.21 on my system and i have strange thing. I installed 5.23 (clean install) and i have in one folder Musepack file (plugin installed), Monkeys Audio file (plugin installed), MP3 file and Wave Audio. If i start the Winamp 5.23 and choose that folder, to open files (Winamp open file dialog) , only MP3, Musepack and Monkeys Audio i can see there (all supported files). My Wave Audio has gone, but i can see it in explorer and i can open it from there. If i choose (All files), i can see every file of course. If i install 5.23 without installing that plugins, i can see only MP3. Installed 5.21 does not have this problems. I can see there every file supported. But not in 5.23. Look there: http://rapidshare.de/files/22563092/..._5.23.jpg.html Olexijl |

Probably something to do with this...

Hi papadoc.
Do a quick 'over the top' install and switch it off. It comes under the 'Winamp Library' section in the Installer. I've never had it installed so don't know if it can be done from inside Winamp ![]() [edit] Obviously it can ![]() UJ |
