WA internal browser (IE) no JavaScript support for local websites anymore?

Hello all.

okay, let me explain what i was doing and what i also want to do whith the new WA 5.572...

I use AlbumList-plugin for showing a album-art slideshow (random image-files of current artist/band, placed in album folder) while enjoing my music.
AlbumList generates a file (%temp%\albumlist.htm) what i can display in WA. I manually placed a link under "Online-Services" to call the loacal stored htm-file.
But this slide-show only works with JavaScript!

This was working well, up to WA 5.52.. (im not exatly sure about my previous version).
Newer versions are not able to run JavaScript from local stored webpages - WHY??? Is it a bug or can i do something to enable this???


I also tried to generate a html-file just to make a alert("test") inside. Doesn't matter where the file is placed, it simply doesn't working now. But it worked very well on WA 5.52 for example.

Can anybody help me please?

I just want to know what i have to do to enable javascrip-execution for local stored websites in the WA integrated Browser (IE).

Is there realy no solution for the actual WA-version ???

Hello cyx,

It sounds like you have run afoul of Internet Explorer's Local Machine zone lockdown security feature. Since XP SP2, Javascript is disabled in local HTM files by default. You can add a "mark of the web" line to your HTM files to put them in your trusted zone.

Note that I haven't tried this with local pages displayed by Winamp, but it is the standard fix for this problem.

Hello Doug - you are my hero thanks.

I just add this line "<!-- saved from url=(0016)http://localhost -->" and that's it.

By the way, i was running WA 5.52 on WinXP SP3 a long time - everything worked fine.
For me it looks like that only changes in WA was caused the behavior.
