5.6 and ipod - can't see music on ipod after transfer
I'm running 5.6 Pro on Vista Home Premium.
When I use winamp to put music on my 4G Nano, the music appears to load as always but after I detach it and try to access the music on the ipod I get a message saying that I should use iTunes to sync the ipod and i can't see any music when I use the menus on the ipod. I loaded the ipod using Winamp 5.56 and all is well. I try 5.6 again - no music. Anyone have a fix or advice ? Don |

have you made sure you're using the newest revision of 5.6 (is build 3085 at the moment). best to have a look at the ipod updates in http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=324322 if not done so already.

I have the exact same problem. Just downloaded the latest build to make sure.

after installing the latest update and new .dll file, closing & opening winamp, I'm still getting the same problem.
Maybe I'll wait until 5.6.1 comes out. Don |

I thought I'd try again :
rebooted did a fresh install of 5.6 - OK ran the winamp_update_pack - OK ran the pmp_ipod_update - fail now when I run 5.6 and plug in my ipod I see two instances appearing. I can add music to instance A and instance B doesn't see it and vice versa and neither one sees music added using winamp 5.56 When I eject A I can no longer add music to B But ... there is bright side. At least now when I add music, the ipod can see it after being ejected. My head hurts ... |

Hmmm, strange....
You've definitely only got one instance of pmp_ipod.dll present? (ie. there's no pmp_ipod(2).dll in the Winamp\Plugins folder) And there's no 3rd-party ml_ipod plugin present? Can we see your List of Plugins, please. By the way, there's no need to install the pmp_ipod_update if you've already installed the Update Pack. |

I had renamed the bad .dll and left in the directory. After I deleted it everything seems OK. Thanks for the help. Don |

just to make sure I'm not crazy, I rebooted the PC, renamed the winamp folder and did a fresh install, opened the ipod in winamp, deleted all the stuff on there, ejected it, disconnected it, plugged it in again, reopened it in winamp, added new songs, ejected it, unplugged it and there was nothing on the ipod.

Let me know if this version of pmp_ipod resolves your issue. Close Winamp and unzip this into your plugins folder - usually c:\program files\winamp\plugins. It should overwrite an existing file.

OK - I closed Winamp and followed your instructions.
I can open Winamp fine but as soon as I plug in the ipod I get a Windows error window saying that "Winamp has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program". Don |

Unfortunately, with my classic, I can plug it in and everything is OK, but when I eject it, that is when winamp crashes for me.

Don, can you do me a favor?
Download this program - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4289641/winamp/ipod_sysinfo.exe you'll have to run it from the commandprompt. type "ipod_sysinfo E:" (replace E: with your ipod drive letter). It'll generate an "ipod.xml" file in the same directory. Assuming it retrieves it without crashing, can you send me the XML file? You can either attach it in this thread or PM me and send it thru there. thanks! -benski |

Thanks for the ipod.xml. That clarifies a few things. Here's my second attempt at fixing it. It might not work - I need to do some more thorough testing (still trying to find a friend with a 4th gen nano to take a closer look). But it's worth a shot - let me know, Don (or anyone else in this thread)

OK I figured out what it was.
I had loaded my ipod with the released version of the pmp_ipod so I hooked it up, transferred a few things and then when I ejected it would crash. So I restored my ipod and then added a few things and ejected, it would crash. so maybe the previous way of writing the database is not compatible with this one? |

Maybe it's just the pmp_ipod.dll in the zip in this thread to blame?
It was kind of intended as a test for Nano 4g sync. Try the one in pmp_ipod_update.exe or 5.601 Update Pack instead (both versions of pmp_ipod in those installers are exactly the same). |

I've tried all the updates in this thread but Winamp still will not recognize my 4G Nano. Are you guys still working on a fix for this particular ipod model?

@kahindi
Hi djohnson123 & IHuitson both have a 4G Nano and have already confirmed the fix in this thread. Is your model definitely a 4G and not 5G or 6G? We don't support Nano 5/6G, Touch, iPhone or iPad models: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....48#post2724648 |

I have a 4G Nano I did a clean install of WinAMP Pro 5.6 and applied the new pmp_ipod.dll in Benski's post #25 above I use the Winamp Backup tool and retrieved the Winamp DB using it. No extra addin's yet I had done a rebuild of the Ipod in iTunes and it was running 1.4 or 1.04 can't remember or get it off my daughter... |

I also got issues with my ipod. I don't even transfer anything, just use winamp for playback. I've used earlier versions winamp for playback, but hadn't any issues. After the 5.6 update my ipod after I eject it says "no songs". With 5.601 same story. Even with posted here .dll ipod finds no music. First I thought "maybe winamp erased my music", I went via My computer and so on... found that hidden folder and all stuff was there. So any ideas which could help. Would much appreciate it.
Specs: iPod Classic 6th Generation (I think, one with 120Gb) Winamp 5.601 with Essentials Pack Windows 7 64bit Hope Premium |

The dll in this thread was intended as a fix for Nano 4g only.
The v0.81 version of pmp_ipod.dll, as included in all of: 5.6.0.3091 (9th Dec revision), pmp_ipod_update & the 5.601 Update Pack, is the official version with all fixes included. Juanus also has a Classic 6g and says it works ok (see above) |

I can no longer right click send-to and have FLAC autoconvert to mp3 on my ipod with 5.6. this has worked for the forever.
is this related? I'm going to have to install an old version to get this to work again. |
