Re: Improved: Windows 8 filetype association compatibility
The "File Types" page in Winamp Prefs has been made Win8-compatible.
Associations in Win8 can now only be made via the Default Programs Control Panel in Windows.

Re: Improved: Added 'Explore item folder' to context menu in playlists
The installer will delete the (now-deprecated) "Find File On Disk" plugin from the Winamp Essentials Pack

Re: Improved: [in_mp4] Write ratings to tags (using the "rate" atom)
Requires "Save ratings to file for compatible formats (default: off)" to be checkmarked in: Prefs > Media Library > Library Options.

Re: Improved: [ml_local] New 'Date Added' column (smart views adjusted accordingly)
The old "Recently Added" view has now become "Recently Modified"
and is available via the Presets dropdown in the "Add Smart View" dialog.
The new "Recently Added" view now uses Date Added instead of Date Modified.

Please report all bugs in the Bug Reports forum!
Make sure your report is complete, according to the sticky threads in Bug Reports, ie.
Clean install, no 3rd-party plugins, list of plugins, full step-by-step method of reproduction, relevant system specs,
exact error messages, screenshots, which skin (one of Classic, Modern, or Bento only, or all three), links to sample files, etc.
If error reports, screenshots, sample files, etc are smaller than 200kb, then please attach them to your post. Otherwise, please upload to one of zippyshare.com, mediafire.com, dropbox.com or sendspace.com and post the url here (no rapidshare or imageshack or similar links please).

Note that incomplete/lame bug reports may be totally ignored.

Known Issues:

Only the German, Polish, Portuguese-BR, Japanese &Turkish lang packs have been fully updated for this release.

Some lang packs have not been updated at all.
There might be some issues with the following languages:
Chinese & Korean... (send me a PM if you are interested in helping to update these packs)

All of the other lang packs (not already mentioned above) have only been partially updated for this release.
Before reporting anything, please test if the bug/crash/issue also occurs with the default English language first.

and for those who haven't been paying attention, this 5.64 release is based on the 5.7 beta but without the Cloud aspects.

for Cloud users, you will need to wait for the next 5.7 beta build to be provided (in a few hours from the time of this post) so you also get the security fixes and everything else which has changed since build 3402.

the 5.7 beta will continue to receive updates every few weeks for Cloud fixes and any other fixes and additions which will become part of the next 'final' release (like we have done with 5.64).

a LOT of work has gone into this release of winamp, maybe the most I've ever seen in a version update since I started reporting bugs and so on. its REALLY VERY appreciated.

I am going to continue using 5.7b and try to help with the cloud and so on, but everyone else not interested in that should def use this ver of winamp. it fixed a great many things under the hood.

Koopa, now that the info tool is official, perhaps you should list a link for that (and maybe even the backup tool as well), along with the essentials info? (meaning, beyond the sig)

Yeah would make sense, but I will release 4.2 of the Info Tool first, which adds better 5.64 'compatibility' (will list version numbers of dll and system files)

Backup Tool is not compatible with Winamp 5.64, so it makes no sense to add it.

i'm confused, probably b/c I don't use the essentials pack, but I thought 5.64 (and 5.7) would natively show in stream v2 artwork? do you actually need EP for that?

same question for parsing the rating out of a local file? I thought this was part of native winamp, not EP?

Classic Skins don't provide an Album Art Window, which will be added by 'Album Art' plugin.
So the change only affects the functionallity of the plugin.

Good to know, that the current Winamp Backup Tool is not compatible with Winamp 5.64 & Winamp 5.7 beta. I didn't use it in the last weeks, I have always copied the folder Winamp from Username > AppData > Roaming to my USB-Sticks again and again, in case a "PC Crash" could happen or the harddrive could break some day...

just so people know, there will be a newer build (3418) available tomorrow (21st) which has the fixes detailed in http://forums.winamp.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=427 (which is be clarified in this thread when it happens).

if anyone has updated to 5.64 and is experiencing the bug caused by the "Not playing the first song next..." fix i.e. it re-plays the first item in the playlist when it should not, then you will either need to wait for the updated 5.64 release or you can install the 5.7 beta (everything is identical between it and 5.64 excluding the Cloud parts).


and hopefully this should be the only revision needed for 5.64 and we will go back to the rolling builds under the 5.7 moniker.

just wanted to ask you if the 5.64 version require any new german localization file. You still have "Deutsche Sprachdatei v5.63 Plus..." which i used for 5.63.

Should i be able to install this for 5.64 and use it as well?

there's already a newer german language pack in the 5.64/5.7 installers. am sure koopa will provide his updated extended language pack as time allows (between all of the other things he's working on for Winamp related tools, etc).

however using the extended 5.63 pack on 5.64/5.7 is not recommended due a large number of changes made which otherwise means you'd get a poor translation experience on the key parts (the extra parts haven't really changed since 5.63, just the core Winamp components).

Well, I tried to download the Essentials Pack (version 5.64 is currently running and playing fine on my system) and I wanted to update the AlbumArt plug-in. Anyway, all the download links for the pack give me this:

After I tried to download it a couple more times it finally fed me the file and I got it downloaded. Was then able to extract the DLL I wanted out of it for the AlbumArt plug-in.

Also My settings were retained for Dshow filter thank you so much! All my custom settings intact I am so happy lol. I now get to use a stable version for Win7 Ultimate and I had to keep using Winamp 5.56 because I could not not find another player as versatile and powerful. A separate video window and a good fast library are a must for me with about 50,000 songs in my library.

settings should persist between versions, though anything with dshow often can and will do as it pleases as that's pretty much outside of our control what external filters do.

at least you're no longer 4 years behind things with the client though it's already outdated compared to the internal builds.

Winamp's been sold to Radionomy since 5.64 was released .

5.666 is the latest version and you should be using that.
