Gif?

I heard somewhere that Winamp 2 now supports GIF files for transparencies. I made a new skin with a big transparent spot in the middle of the main window and saved it as a GIF file. When I loaded the skin, nothing happened. It just showed the baseskin (which is what I used).

Was that just a false statement I read, or can WA2 really support GIF transparencies?

You were had, I belive skinme's reference to .gif was so you would derail if you were making a competition skin, WA2 never has and probably never will, support gif.

Winamp still only reads BMPs. I believe that some other sites let you upload GIF-version preview shots because GIFs will show the transparencies. But that's preview shots. You still need to make your skins in BMP, and to make them transparent, open the REGION.TXT in your skin zip folder and read it.
