19+ concerts

damnit, this really pisses me off
yesterday i'm meeting up w/ some friends, one shows up and says that the beta band tickets are still on sale
we go and buy them, as we leave, we look
turns out the bloody show is 19+
the show is ONE MONTH before my 19th birthday, exactly

i really want to go, but of all of my friends, i'm the only one who doesn't look 19, even though most of them are all also 18

i talked to someone today who'd scratch my drivers license for 40 bucks
i'm not sure if it would even work, i look so young anyway
DAMNIT

Probably lots of "good stuffs" are gonna happen behind those doors. I could buy those tickets for you but I don't know where you live.

Who's your daddy?

Here it is generally the case that if you canget the ticket, you can go to the concert, although in some cases you can onyl go to events if youa re a certain age.

yeah, i've found that the ticket-sellers usually say that it's the venue's responsibility to check ages, and the venue either reckons it's the ticket-sellers', or are just too damn busy to care...

when the up in smoke tour was here, the news made a big deal about how 10 year olds were getting into the concert when it was a 21 and over concert. you shouldn't have any trouble getting in.

john, i'd do that, but i'm one of those guys w/ really really fair hair and skin who can't grow visible stubble to save his life
damnit

though on the plus side, i got an id today
i talked to a guy at work, he loaned me one of his, the guy looks like me though his hair is brown (i'll wear a hat to cover my blond hair)

here's hoping it works

good luck man, but i've never been ID'd at a gig (except to get into the bar...) - relax, be confident and they'll prolly think you're 19 anyways...

that's what i'm relying on
i already have the ticket
everyone i'm going w/ looks to be about 19, i'm the youngest lookking one
i figure i won't shave for about a week before hand (i MIHGT have visible stubble by then), and i'll just go in in the middle of the group

i'm gonig to test out the id tomorrow, just to see if it works, build up my confidence so i won't be skulking along

hell, if he looks like you, hair isnt a problem. the blond is an advantage. just tell them that you dyed it.

well, it didn't work
i got an id from a friend of mine, and went to the place holding the concert
i memorized the info and vital statistics of the guy (turns out i recognized the name b/c i'd asked out the guy's sister at one point)
i gelled my hair to be similar to his in the picture, i haven't shaved in two weeks in the vain hope of having visible facial hair, i took the advice of all my friends, acting really casual, didn't have the id ready

the guy at the door let all my friends in, then stopped me, i showed him the id, he looked at it, looked at me, looked back at it, then handed it to me and said to go away
DAMNIT

at least my friends and i had already made a decision about what to do in the case of this happening: they stayed at the concert, i went home

suicide, but hilarious for years to come. if you survive.

bad luck hue - I've always looked much older than my age, which always used to help in the past.

The only time I've ever been denied entry from somewhere for age related stuff is the ****** in Monte-Carlo. I was trying to sneak my 16 year old kid brother in with ID that said he was 18. The bouncer asked for his ID, and he showed them it, to which the guy replied that you needed to be 25 or over to go in - I could hardly leave him outside while I went in, so that was that
