pps files

My friends send me pps files and when I click on them winamp tries to open them, but can't. Just get a flickering display. Can anyone help? Thanks. I'm using v5.09 with xp and iTunes 4 winamp 5 skin.

What are these pps files meant to be? PowerPoint Slideshow, or other (video/audio)?

The default Winamp distro does not support the .pps extension, so (unless you've installed some 3rd-party input plugin which is supposed to support pps) this means that you must've somehow manually associated them with Winamp yourself....?
