If you have yet to hear them go over to DiePopstar.com's download section to hear a demo of theirs.

ummm... i downloaded a song ("get money") and it's quite unremarkable. i mean, it's good, but it's nothing special...

That's not even their best one, unfortunately the official site is down. But I do know where another one is.

that ones okay as well - once again, some nice touches, but quite repetitive and kinda "heard it all before".

surely demos would be lacking in sound quality, rather than songwriting skill? the sound quality is excellent, incidentally. very good recordings, for demo recordings.

I believe most of the songs were recorded in the lead singer's basement, and some others around his house.

The guy used to be the singer/songwriter of the (quite excellent) band Limblifter. I don't think this stuff is as good as he's done in the past, but he is a talented songwriter, so hopefully the album will be better.

Didn't he also do some of the song writing in "Age of The Electric"?

He did. I know he wrote "Remote Control," which was one of their best.
