Song ordering and Playlist background

Is there a way to have Winamp not reorder the song order from a drag and drop of a few or more files ? order by song title like Win Explorer ?

Also, I use my laptop as the music source on long trips. The green on black playlist can be virtually impossible to read under some ligting conditions. an option for black on white background would be ideal.

I don't think there is a way to change these default WA actions. A forum search shows that others have asked these sorting questions and no methods have been provided. There is 1 General Preferences - Playlist option; "When loading multiple files, sort files by name".

What I do after adding tracks to the playlist editor is use the options at the bottom of the editor's window. Right click on the appropriate button and select the appropriate option.

Most skins provide alternate color themes. How you select them depends on the skin. Look on the various right click content menu options or in General Preferences (press Ctrl + P). If you prefer classic skins, take a look at this one:

Hi,

I suggest you install DrO's "Playlist Undo" plug-in. It provides a simple way to return to the previous active playlist if the current active list gets screwed up somehow.

DrO has written a lot of useful plug-ins. Take a look at them, you will probably find something else you could use.

There is no need to change from the default skin. Some people just like the layout of other skins better, or something that fits in better with their desktop theme, or just want the option of having a variety when they get bored with whatever they're using.

I know I'm bringing this back from the dead, but I solved one problem. If you open a folder to display the songs, and highlight the ones selected, all you need to do is move the list to the playlist position you desire with one caveat: drag the list from the first song in the list and not a random position. The list will transfer from the position on the list to the position on the playlist editor where you select. Now I need to find out how to change the options background color, and the playlist song title color.

You, as a user, cannot change the background color of the PlayList. Either you hack Winamp or "open" your skin and change the color values.

What skin do you use for Winamp?
  • Classic Look
  • Modern Skin Look
  • Bento
  • a skin which you downloaded off the Internet?

Is this your skin?

If yes, why don't you just drop the author a mail and ask him nicely to change the background color for you? There is a contact address at the bottom of the page:

If you have any specific questions contact Mike Zee aka Dr. ZEE from this page: http://www.mzentertainment.com/contact.htm

I did that about a year ago, and received no answer.
I will try again.

Just like this?

Please consider that changing the background color of the PlayList Editor automatically changes the background colors in MediaLibrary window since the skin uses the same bitmap file in both container windows.

Please let me know if you got an altered version from the skin's author.

You mean the switch/toggle button/option?

There is none.
I told you, you have to "open" the skin and change some values. And this is what I just did.

But the "moral" question in here is this: am I allowed to alter someone else's skin and share it with users?

"... to share or not to share ..."

This is what I've found, but it doesn't seem to change anything. I can't seem to attach a screen shot.

In the folder window there is a bitmap file called list-background.png.
Change the color of that file into white. Please bear in mind that you have to save the new file as a .png and not a .bmp-file.

Now go to the XML folder and open the file: system-colors.xml. In here search for this line:

PHP Code:
<color id="studio.list.text" value="0,200,0"/> <!-- List item text color -->
Change the value into "0,0,0".

In case you are interested what else color you could change use pink: value="255,0,255". You will instantly see on the skin what you just altered. It's the best color while running a test.

At the end mark all four folders, skinshot.png and Skin.xml file, zip them and rename to MyNewSkin.wal

Finished!
Questions?
