Title Updates are Partial Artist/Song Title

Title UPdates works just fine, but only PART of the Artist Name is shown.

eg:
Aretha Franklin - Respect
is displayed:
Franklin - Respect

I've tested and rechecked tags and done just about everything I can think of to do. I can uncheck 'auto' and manually type in artist/title and it displays perfectly. It's the "auto" that leaves off the first few characters of artist names.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, ~Blonde

Thank you for Replying, Jkey. Yes. All displays are correct in Winamp. It's the strangest thing. I've narrowed it down to the first word of artist name/group. I can manually edit the second name in the tag (add *$#@) and the auto title display takes it just fine.

Thank you again for any suggestions.

.... I see display correctly in my winamp, but when others listen to my stream through Winamp, they only see partial artist name. need to correct something .. it is NOT just the first name of artist. I've scrolled thru history and some (a few)of the titles leave the entire artist name off.

eg..
The Esquires - Get On Up
displays as ..
- Get On Up (entire artist name left off)

I get that every now and again, but mine is from the serial connection to the encoders so it is completely unrelated.

If you and playing and encoding in Winamp, and probably serving on the same computer through the 127.0.0.1 interface, I'm not really sure what could be going wrong. ALso strange the when you type in the information it seems to work. Sorry not really adding anything to solve your problems.

Your mileage may vary!

Would it help to simply uninstall everything, then re-install both Winamp and sc_dsp?

A clean install might help.

I would be curious to know if the correct data is even being passed along to DNAS if it appears in winamp properly. Can you post check the song history and DNAS and see what that looks like?

Go to the DNAS webpage, you do not need to login as admin. If you open a browser from the computer you are broadcasting from and use port 8000, then just click this link: http://127.0.0.1:8000/played.html.

If not, then substitute the IP address and port in the link I posted above.

If all else fails, Jkey's title update app works a treat

what source are you using? if it's the Source DSP then there's been a lot of changes to it especially with title handling since this thread was started almost 3 years ago.

you need to update your DSP to something which is supported - current version is listed in http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=324877 and just make sure to check 'v1 mode'.

Daz I have a bunch of files where the artist put a comma in the title like

hackdork - Rock, on dude , its cool would result in the title 'hackerdork - Rock' is some cases...

this more so a issue with title parsing scripts that used the legacy 7.html method and read the resulting page and tokenized the now playing into artist, title and so on.

I'm just fishing here. but perhaps we need more clarification ?

~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough.
search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn.

so that's happening with the currently offered tools? or am i missing what you're trying to get at... especially if it's to do with legacy versions of the tools as that's not something which can / will be changed.
