VPS+On Demand streaming question
Guys I tried searching but couldn't find a topic about my question.
I have a pretty good VPS with plenty of bandwidth and storage space. I wish to setup a ShoutCast station hosted on the VPS, so that I won't have to stream the music from my PC. Files would be uploaded on the server and they will play from there. I wanted to know : - 1. How would I setup ShoutCast so that the files would keep playing from the server? 2. Is there any script or management application that would allow visitors to choose any particular song to play out of those already uploaded? I would be really grateful if someone would point me in the right direction. Many thanks. |

DNAS + Transcoder. You can then make your own custom scripts that can "talk" to the Transcoder for song requests. I'm not aware of anything currently available for doing that already but it's categorically possible to do.

Thanks. Yes I know it is possible, I just need a headstart, a little hint how to do so and I am very much capable of taking it from there.
Some examples of what I am talking about - bollywoodmusicradio.com - They had a very nice request system, where they listed all the available songs on their server, and visitors could then choose the song and the song was queued to be played next. Sadly they took the request system down now. raiden48. info/request.php - this seems like an ongoing project, but no download links sadly. ![]() I am searching and trying.. Let's see.. :\ |

there's a number of things people have posted in the site design forum which is probably more likely to give you something to work from (or at least the means to start it yourself) than what forumtalk posted (which isn't too helpful and doesn't seem to indicate having read what was first posted).
if not why not try to reach out to the ones you've suggested to see if they can give you hints / suggestions / even the possibility of pre-written code for doing things ? the worst that can happen is they say no / don't reply. -daz |

@DrO Yes, I have already sent an email to the owner of the site raiden48 .info. Let's see when he replies.
I will search around in the site design forums too. Thanks. |
