Winamp does not read ID3 tags
All of a sudden my player stopped reading ID3 tags. The 'view file info' box also changed, and I haven't the slightest idea what the cause of this might be.
Any help appreciated. |

Sounds like you installed some dodgy third=party Mp3 decoder such as MP3Pro or MPG123. Remove it.

Hey. I've got the same(?) problem.
After analyzing the Volume with Mediamonkey, those Files which have been edited have no more Years-Information in Winamp :/ Bizarrely, in Mp3Tag they still exist.. As far as i know, i dont have activated ID3v1... My Years-Informations now look like a swiss Cheese.. Can someone help me? (Edit) I think it would help to save all Tags with Mp3Tag again... But is this really necessary (Takes much time etc...) |

sounds like you've got a different style tag to what Winamp can cope with (i'm not 100% sure if it correctly copes with ID3v2.4 though ID3v2.3 is handled). then again i'm just guessing as tagging isn't an area i'm too hot on.

This sounds very similar to what is going on with me.
All the other id3 info is being read, including cover art but just the "Year" field is completely blank on all my files. |

SOLUTION: This is for anyone using Mediamonkey to do any tagging whatsoever.
See the link below...after following those instructions, and then mass selecting all of my files within MediaMonkey and going to Tools>Advanced Tag Management>Synchronize Tags and waiting for the entire process to finish (rather long in my case as my library is huge) I now have years appearing properly in Winamp. THE CAUSE?: Seems to be some id3 writing pissing contest between MM and Winamp. Regardless, MediaMonkey implemented a workaround a few releases back. Granted, it's by modifying the .ini file but still. If this is a known problem existing between one of the most popular mp3 tagging software programs and one of the most popular mp3 players you think that some agreement could be met. ![]() THE LINK: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/i...eid=62&nav=0,9 |
