favourite skin vote!

It's time for awards -

I had a hard time picking the nominees from all the great skins out there - and i went from 5 to 10, 15 and 20 before i could stop my self

But enough! -let the voting begin

I can't believe Simplicity didn't make the list.
I'm so bummed.

I think ZX-1100 would be a contender if it was more complete.

I don't know that I have a favorite skin. I really enjoy all
of them. It's so exciting to download new skins. I check deskmod
everyday. I just d/led PocketAmp by Dogwings. Plus i'm checking
out OHE and tube.

Boxor - Splif

Best use of W3's maki capabilities so far, not to mention graphically stunning.

..maybe Gell Cap will make it later, when finished

well, i'm a big fan of kinwashi's probe.

i was dissapointed that wasabi studio wasn't on the list . not the prettiest of skins but i use it at work all the time coz anything more complex just crawls on my p!!!.

respect to all the other skins as well cos they're all excellent.

oh and thanks to whoever has voted for my bluecog skin . i was surprised to even see it listed

Don't feel bad for me. I was just kidding about not
making the list. It really doesn't matter. I know people
like my skins and I enjoy making them.

We do need an evil smiley, Don't we..

On topic

After great consideration. I have concluded that my favorite
skin is not on the list. It's the Sony Mz-R900 by Zenken.
It has great scripting, excellent layout and realistic graphics.

But Zpyral by Evil Pumpkin is a close second..

These are my favorites to play with. But when i'm doing things
other then listening to music. I prefer My own skin or Illuminamp
by ThePlague..

Pusher..

Oh man. I just thought to check and see if assmosis
works now with the new beta, yes this is one sweet skin

hmmm voted for?
Damn I am a dane.

Well the only thing I don't like about Ohe3 is that the playlist editor is skinned too. I normally have winamp3 always on top with the playlist editor minimized in the top left corner. But Ohe3 cannot minimize the playlist...

Unhappy No votes for me?

Yooooooooooo! or better this time nooooooooooo!

I really don't get it... It looks like nobody likes my skins...
Why does everyone say that he likes my skins if nobody uses them... quite strange I think...
Well... maybe I'll be able to impress with my new skin (At least I hope so!)

Ashram, your skins are great, but you never finish skinning the components. That deters me from using them. I like 100% skinned skins.

mavsman...... take it as a self shame!!!!

you dont really know what skinners are going through
just to make one skin!!!!!!

all the coding, the painting, the matching,
arranging...... man.... you really dont know!

i was awfully wrong when i thought winamp3 skins
are just "wham, bam... TY maam", the effort put
to one skin is huge, so huge you cant describe it!

ashram..... we all like your skins... please do more
and continue to do your best

there is your vote ashram

and look at the rating for 'lcd circle' at deskmod - and
tell me again noone uses your skins

besides i have to agree with mavsman on this one - and i am in the progress of making a skin to, so i know what a pain in the arse it is - if you just took the time to realy go into detail (though this is the least fun part of skinning) im sure your skins would be even more appriciated.

I like your new skin btw - though i realy think the metal texture could use some love before i would use it.

and i actualy used Roundorb for a couple of weeks when i was
released

So now - cheer up

I hope that the above statement has lost some of its meaning, as I don't believe that you are a native born English speaker, or are very old, which could have skewed the meaning in your statement. If you really meant what you wrote, then I think it is funny.

Skinning the components isn't hard, it just takes time. Ashram makes great skins, but like I said, I like skinned components.

Secondly, I apologize that I am not the skin pimp, such as yourself. Had this been Ashram or an equally qualified skinner, I would not have chuckled.

Raj, skinning the components isn't hard, just tedious and a little limiting. I am not totally sure of all of this, as I have only one skin as Kingo pointed out, and I skinned the components in the late Alphas, but the following is a list of the xml files you need to edit (I think):

studio-elements - primarily has everything you can modify for the components. Colors and images, do this first.

studio-config - deals with configurication. I just changed the text colors here and the height between the rows, so I could fit my overly large checkbox.

standard-frame - This I really don't use. I believe that in the more current betas, the default skin pulls the information from this for the playlist (which it gives its own container) and the components. Instead of them putting the same information for the close, menu, etc buttons in both pledit and components, it can just call it from here. The older skins don't use this. You don't need to, but you may find it more convenient.

That should be it. After you get through studio-elements, you should be mostly done. I just checked other skins and found what I wanted to do, then looked through their code. Hope this helps a bit, and maybe there is a tutorial around here too. If you skin the components, Act3 Scene 1 may be a new favorite, as I really like orange skins.

Jeez I cant believe no one is ranting/raving about Koalla 2 (even though it has 10 votes). Heres my rant: Its has THE BEST small windowshade player out of all the skins. Since I always use something that is small koalla's small window never gets in the way, its just nice to look at. The skin is nice plus it has color themes, so you can choose what color suits your desktop theme/backgroud etc. Very very good skin, I think it should be a featured mod because it is better (or at least as good) as OH3.

Plus just checking out OH3 final today, also like the small winshaded version of that as well.

You know what is forgotten in this, the comparison of individual skin compared to team efforts. That plays a considerable factor I would think. Most often I put off some parts of design in a skin because of the scripting implications.

Oh well....my vote is stil Boxor.
