gapless mode / remove silence

Hi!

Could somebody explain me what these two options of the DirectSound Output do and what the differences between them are?

Gapless mode makes no gaps between songs
Remove silence attempts to skip silence encoded in to the end of a song.

Gapless mode is fairly self-explanatory.
It removes the gap between the previous and next track, so track 2 starts at exactly the same time as track 1 ends.
eg. track 1 is 4mins long and track 2 is 5mins long. Track 2 will start as soon as 4:00 hits the timer on track 1 (so basically, gapless mode works on track lengths/time principle).
Naturally, if the crossfader is also enabled, then you won't notice this so much.
What "auto remove silence" does, is to detect if there's any silence at the beginning and end of a track.
eg. Sometimes, an MP3 file can be encoded in such a way that the music starts, say, 5 seconds in and ends 10 or more seconds before the actual end time. "ARM" resolves this issue by removing any silent beginning and end sections, thus enabling true gapless mode.
Does that make things any clearer?
