How do I set up a relay in a different format to my source?
I have a shoutcast server that currently is set to broadcast in MP3 @ 128kbs as defined by the source (My auto-dj software)
I would like to setup a relay that would take the stream from the main server, convert it into AAC+ @ 64kbs, and stream that. That way I can cater to mobile users as well. As I have many different DJs who use different software, I can't have one DJ stream to two servers at once. Therefore, the relay will be permantly set as a relay to my main server. Is there any transcoding software available that will enable me to do what I need? Thanks in advance! WestJ http://fillydelphiaradio.net/ |

I just looked at http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcas..._Specification
you should be able to relay using sc_trans no problem "If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system" So I did |

from what has been said, the following would probably be better so the mp3 and aac streams are created at the same time:

I agree, but, my suggestion can be implemented without all the DJ's needing to change anything, and no disruption at all to the current stream

that's very true, but isn't it sometimes better to force a change in setup so it will work in a more efficient manner? though either way it's another suggestion for the OP and is their call at the end of it all as to which way they want to go with things

Would it help if I specified the servers being used?
One is a D.N.A.S v1, listen.fillyradio.com:8000 The other is D.N.A.S v1, 199.180.115.20:9998 The second one is to be the relay, the first is my source. I have tried getting sc_transv2 to work as jaromanda specified, but I have no idea how to set up the playlist. For that manner, I have yet to figure out how to get the damn server to run (enter command in bash, and get no output). In any case, if there are ANY alternatives, ANY solutions, I want to know. Thanks. EDIT: In case anybody hasn't realised yet, I'm a noob who knows the theory, not the practise. |
