old skins with 2.9

I've been told that Winamp 2.9 will feature a new skin format. Is this true? I won't care if, unlike Winamp3, 2.9 is able to use my current skins perfectly. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out if it does. So, does the new version support current skins without limitations?

NO. Winamp 2.9 is still Winamp 2.X. It uses Winamp 2.X Skins. it uses Winamp 2.X plug-ins. It is a upgrade to Winamp 2.81, like 2.81 was an upgrade to 2.80 and so on. Who ever told you that was misinformed.

There are however a couple of new windows in Winamp now, video playback and a Media Library, and unless the skin specificaly has these in, then the default winamp bitmaps will be used.

If you have a skin that you really like and would like to see it skinning the new windows, then I suggest you get onto the author of the skin and get him to upgrade it. Other than that, your original WA2 skins will still cover the main,eq,pl,MB etc etc.

Maybe thats what your source was on about.
