Don't take this the wrong way, but if you can't figure out what to do from all those guides, then you probably should stay away from NSV and use a more matured streaming format.

If you want to stream pre-encoded files, use NSVSCSRC. If it's not working, you are doing it wrong.

The basic streaming system works and is even fairly well documented. Ya gotta read the stuff and figure it out. There are some little "if's and butts and candy and nuts". Those are the questions that you'll get answered here.

A "how do I do it?" is already pretty well explained by the links and included documentation.

Create a new text file and save it into the NSVenc folder. Any name should work, like headers.txt.
I dont have a NSVenc folder, only a NSVtools one.

Quote:
The basic parameters for nsvscsrc are:
nsvscsrc hostort:headers.txt directory [interm.nsv]

- host is the host (IP / DNS) that the SHOUTcast server is running on.
- port is the port to send the data to. Note this is PortBase+1. The PortBase set in the SHOUTcast server configuration (8000 by default, so 8001 to send to. Using the SHOUTcast DSP it would add the one for you).
- headers.txt specifies what text file headers are in. This should be the earlier created document in the same folder.
- directory is the directory that the files are stored in. Single files are not accepted.
- interm.nsv is I don't know.

An example setup is:
nsvscsrc 127.0.0.1:8001:headers.txt test
Where the DNAS is on the local machine with the default PortBase and the files are in the /test/ sub-directory of the NSVenc folder.

and

nsvscsrc localhost:8001:headers.txt C:\NSVFun
Where the DNAS is on the local machine with the default PortBase and the files are in C:\NSVFun.
If someone could simplify the above^ and answer why i dont have a NSVenc folder, extremly appreciated!
Matt

They they changed the name of the folder. Follow the same directions, just with the diffrent folder. And I am not sure how to simplify the above directions anymore. You are required to know how to use Windows' Command Line Interface, though.

If you can't figure it out by the example lines it shows, then like I said before, you may want to choose a more matured streaming format. This is, and probably always will be, beta software.

If you don't go crazy. Look at the initial documentation you got from nsvtools. This gives you everything you need to know.

You can almost run the default configuration "by wrote".

About the only thing that will give you a hassle is router configuration.

If your VCR is really blinking twelves, set the thing up with Winamp audio only first.

It gives you a better idea of what to do from there.

Real has some videos to give you some better ideas about how video streaming works. Most of the concepts are adaptable.

spend time testing with a localhost based shoutcast server
when you are satisfied with the results then make it public to your friends.

if it all runs smooth locally then you can eliminate
the cause of any problem being your nsv software setup.
Then you can move on to such things as bandwidth problems etc.
nsv is beta and cannot be learned overnight, understand this
and things become much easyier.

nsvgui as always buffered for me and after a while i figured out it was because of cpu/memmory vs bandwidth usage.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.
