Reduce system resource usage?

(I did look around for help on this)

I love Winamp 5.5, but I find it gets slow and clunky. Especially after it's been running all day. And it seems to make my whole system increasingly sluggish too. A simple example: when I exit Winamp, it takes about 15 seconds before it actually does exit.

So, are there any ways to minimize it - to reduce the system resources it uses?

I mostly just play MP3s.
I always have Media Library on display.
I run Win XP Pro SP2 on a 2.53gHz, 1GB RAM.
I use some plugins: Volume Logic, Quick Title, Album List, Audioscrobbler.

Thanks.

basically use a classic skin and remove all plugins you don't and wont use. dsp and visualisation plugins(when enabled) use lots of resources aswell
