Method of Reproduction: 1. Open JTF window 2. Select a file to queue 3. Jump to next file pressing B. If you jump to next file using the button, goes normally, but using B key the music is "enqueued forever". [Edit --> DJ Egg] Reproduced. Thanks. |

Buffer Bug
Winamp 5.53 (x86) Mar 27, 2008
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins OS: Windows XP sp2 Locale: English US CPU: Intell Pentium 4 3.20GHz Memory: 2GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 Sound: Yamaha DS1x Native Audio DirectX v9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Problem: I just installed the newest build and I use it at work to listen to AOL's XM radio. The Problem that I have with the new build is that it does handle the buffering very well. It keeps getting mixed up like it lost it's placement. All the skins (Classic, Modern, Bento) gets mixed up when doing anything else that may tax the processor before 1:10, but after the 1:10 (this is in minutes) it plays all fine. Now I know that I didn't get this before I installed the newest build because right before (minutes before I installed the update in fact) I didn't have this problem only when I installed the newest build. I also don't know if this problem exist with any other streaming content. Method of Reproduction: 1. Select a AOL Radio station and start play it. 2. Do any thing else. For example, I started using Microsoft Excel and saved what I was working with. I even got it when I was typing this bug report in Notepad. |

@bmx2886
Oops. Yup, it's a bug in jnetlib.w5s We've already fixed it internally. Thanks. Watch the Winamp 5.53 Released thread in the Winamp Discussion forum for a possible patch at some point within the next day or three (there's also an ml_playlists bug which needs patching). |

Another bug
Winamp 5.53 (x86) Mar 27, 2008
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento OS: Windows XP sp2 Locale: English US CPU: Intell Pentium 4 3.20GHz Memory: 2GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 Sound: Yamaha DS1x Native Audio DirectX v9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Problem: There is a weird problem with the Collapse Window option button. I have the media libary collapsed cause I don't normally use it (when I'm at work). But when I close and reopen it the media libary isn't collapsed exactly. I have attached a screen shot of what I set it as and what it looks like when I restart Winamp. This is the setting I have it normally set to: ![]() This is what it looks like when I restart Winamp (please note that the collapse button has changed to a expand button, in the red box): ![]() Method of Reproduction: 1. Open Winamp 2. Click on the collapse button. 3. Close Winamp 4. Open Winamp ** By the way thanks DJ Egg for the comment about the discussion, I will be watching it for the patch. I'm glad it wasn't just my PC that was having the issue. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Reproduced. Thanks. Last edited by bmx2886; 28th March 2008 at 22:04. |

Upgrade from 5.52 Vis plugins: Dr Glitter, Mandelbrot, NeBuLa2, AVS, Milkdrop, Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen Language Pack: None (US English default) Skin: missing OS: Vista sp1 Locale: English US CPU: AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.9GHz Memory: 1GB Graphics:ATI Radeon X1270 Sound: Sigma Tel High Definition Audio CODEC Direct X: v10 Problem: After Installing the latest build, almost all of my skins simply dissappeared and I can't install new ones. Skins I still Have: Classic, Modern, Bento, Big Bento, Anunaki110, cPro_Bento, Laboratory Clinical Art, Venus_for_WA5_Modern Skins I had: cPro_SC, cPro-cMP11, S2 High End, WMP11, Wii, Mario3mix, Donkey Kong, Mac OSX Panther, Super Mario Amp 2 All Stars, Zelda Amp 3, Super Mario Bros - Skin Remix, (and a number of other classic skins) Reproduce: Unsure how to reproduce this, but every time I go to install a new skin from the site, winamp classic pops up and I find that the new skin didn't install. No error messages, it just doesn't install. Note: I have two computers with winamp, the other is running XP and is still working fine after the new install with the various skins still in place. Besides OS, on my XP machine I have a "Pro" version of winamp, and so I used the Pro upgrade installer. My Vista laptop doesn't have a license, and so I had to cancel the dialog that asked for the information. *FIXED* It's a vista problem... funny it didn't happen before--may have occurred after sp1. Had to grant folder permissions. |

Unstable Sorting in Media Library
The following bug was reported in recent past versions but is still not fixed nor currently listed as a known bug. I see in old forum records of March 2005 that Shaneh reported to have fixed it, but it's still broken today. I also see in the report of bugfixes done for version 5.51 "Fixed: [ml_local] Artist column in descending order when sorting by Year" and if that be the same bug it simply ain't fixed.
Suppose I sort my whole mp3 library by Year, by clicking on the Year column in Local Media view, and then I re-sort the whole thing by Artist by clicking the Artist column. If, in the resulting ordering, each artist's mp3's are ordered by Year then the sort procedure is called 'stable'; and if the artist's mp3's are not ordered by Year the sort is 'unstable'. The programmer's definition of stable sorting is that when two input values are exactly equal, their order in the output shall be the same as their order in the input. A sort procedure is 'unstable' when the ordering of two exactly equal input values may be randomly changed in the course of the sort. Winamp's sorting is unstable. When looking at all my albums, I want my artists sorted alphabetically, and then I want each artist's albums sorted chronologically (by "Year"). This is now impossible because of the instability of the sort. To deliver the stability, the sort procedure has no need to look at any column other than the sole one being sorted. Winamp should be using a stable sorting algorithm such as the mergesort algorithm, and it's a bug to be using an unstable algorithm such as the quicksort algorithm. I'm not requesting the feature of multiple columns sorting (which would be a major undertaking). I'm reporting the bug whose fix is the simple replacement of boilerplate quicksort with boilerplate mergesort. |

This "bug" has been around since late 5.3x. The ontitlechange function has changed several times. Early on it trapped any change to a different track. Then it trapped any time a track was started, whether or not it was a new one. Now it only traps a change in the title even when it might be a different track. If the title is the same or a track is entered twice in the playlist the ontitlechange does not trap the second entry.
The "best" behavior is the original one where any change to a different track in the playlist is trapped, even when it has the same name. At present the only way to have a display of the current track number is to have a timer that continually polls the value. Is there any hope that this can be restored to the previous behavior? |

Winamp 5.531
Upgrade from 5.52, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Bento OS: XP SP2 I'm not really sure if this functionality is provided by the Media Library or pmp_usb, so I'm not sure if this belongs in the plugin or core threads. Hopefully I guessed right. ![]() In the ML Portables 3-pane view, the Album Artist column in the bottom Tracks pane is not sortable. Clicking the column header will change the up/down sort order indicator in the column header, but the order of the tracks is not actually changed. All other columns in the bottom pane seem to sort correctly. Also, Album Artist sort works in the top Album Artist pane, just not in the bottom Tracks pane. |

The following bug appears new in Winamp 5.531 (it's not in 5.51 or 5.52): In the Shoutcast Radio view, clicking on any data column -- such as the Name column, the Genre column, the Bitrate column -- sorts that column in ascending order only. It no longer sorts in descending order. (Meanwhile in the Media Library view, clicking on a column continues to perform properly as it did before).

Just crashes upon installation
As the title says I installed WA 5.53 from 5.52 and after
the installation completed without errors winamp starts up with the Bento skin and then proceeds to crash. 5.531 also produces same results. Clean install also produces same results with both 5.53/5.531 5.52 however runs very nicely for me. -- Winamp 5.53 & 5.531 clean install -- English -- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.00GHz, 2G RAM -- Vista Ultimate 64 bit -- nVidia GeForce 8800 GT, Driver v7.15.0011.6925 -- SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio v6.10.0002.6100 -- DX10 -- Install, run, crash, uninstall, reboot, install, run, crash, rinse & repeat -- no 3rd party plugins installed -- Bento Skin, have not tried with other skins as WA crashes as soon as it starts up leaving only option for changing skins at installation and Bento skin is pretty much the only skin I ever use since it's been included with WA. -- File types not really applicable as WA really doesn't get a chance to play anything but if needed, I only play mp3s. Not sure what you guys really changed in 5.53(1) but 5.52 is running just fine right now (literaly it's running right now as I type this out) on my system. |

Winamp 5.531 (build 1938)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Bug occurs only with Bento skins OS: Windows Vista SP1 Locale: Swedish CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 Memory: 4GB RAM Graphics: Mobile Intel 965 Express Sound: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio DirectX 10 Problem: The Winamp "main window" loses focus after switching to another application and back to Winamp, causing keyboard shortcuts for playback control (and mouse wheel) to not work. This does not affect global shortcuts. Method of Reproduction: 1. Switch to Bento/Big Bento skin (if not already) 2. Start Winamp playback by pressing shortcut "X". 3. ALT-TAB to another window - then ALT-TAB right back 4. Now you can't use "C" (or any other shortcut / mouse wheel) to control playback - the Winamp "main window" has lost focus. I have verified that the problem is not present in Winamp v5.51 or earlier. It was still working in v5.52, according to this thread. |

CD playback with more than one audio device
Winamp 5.5.31
Clean install english OS: Windows xp sp3 beta and tried on Vista 32-bit sp1 sound: built in Realtek ALC888 and Siig usb sound (c-media) problem: When playing a regular audio cd the sound always comes out the windows default sound device even if the other is selected on the nullsoft directsound output properties page. In other words, if I have windows set up to use my realtek sound output, and winamp to use the usb sound device when the winamp hits a song on the playlist from a CD it changes to the realtek output for that song then goes back to the usb afterward. If you need a list of plugins or hijackthis log let me know. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Sorry, but we can't reproduce this. You should post in Tech Support instead, and attach your List Of Plugins. |

Winamp 5.5.31 lite
english lang. OS: Windows xp sp2 sound: built in Realtek ALC883 on ASUS P5K-VM board problem: Internet Explorer 7 doesn't close properly after it has been launched via Winamp. More precisely, it closes fine, but the process "iexplore.exe" stays hanging in the Task Manager until killed manually. how to reproduce: Start with IE7 closed and Winamp closed. Open Winamp, right click its interface and click "Nullsoft Winamp", the "About Winamp" window will appear. On this window, click the link "visit www.winamp.com" at the bottom. It will launch IE7 to Winamp's site. From there, leave Winamp open and just close IE7. In this case, "IEXPLORE.EXE" process is still there in the Task Manager although it should have been terminated when closing IE7. -> bug confirmed. Winamp process doesn't seem to want to let go IE7 process. [Edit --> DJ Egg] No need to doublepost. I already added this to our internal bugtracker the first time you reported it :-) |

Winamp 5.531, fresh download and clean install as of 12th June 2008, 1630BST.
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Bug occurs with all skins Machine: Dell Inspiron 1501 (Laptop) OS: Windows XP MCE 2005 with SP3 Locale: English UK CPU: Turion64 TL-50 X2 Memory: 1GB RAM Graphics: ATI Xpress 1150 Sound: Sigmatel HD Onboard Audio DirectX v9.0c Problem: Settings in the context (right-click) menu on the "Stop" button do not work. Nothing in the "On end of queue" will make it shutdown, standby, hibernate, or close Winamp, even though the option is selected. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken? This happens with every skin BTW, and also on my inferior desktop machine. [Edit --> DJ Egg] I haven't tested to see if I can reproduce it yet, but note that those "On end of queue" items are added by the Jump To File Extra plugin (gen_jumpex.dll). I assume you've actually added some items to the JTFE queue first, yes? EDIT Response: I had no idea that JTFE was responsible for those options. After adding something to the queue it worked almost as expected, the playlist repeated, but it closed Winamp as I asked it to. Last edited by Inventive Soft; 12th June 2008 at 17:34. |

Clean install, no 3rd-party skins, jammix enhancer Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: Winamp Modern OS: Windows XP sp2 Locale: English US System: Thinkpad T61 Laptop Problem: Winamp crashed when clicked on ML (Media List) button on the standard winamp modern skin while the media library was scanning my hard disk (first time) for media. Method of Reproduction: 1. Install Winamp 5.531 and start it. 2. When started for first time, a dialog box will pop-up asking for adding media to media library (ML). Select a local media folder and opt to ad media in the ML, make sure you have enough media on the HDD so that the scanning takes approx 1-2 mins. 3. While the scanning is still in progress, click on the ML button on the winamp main window to close the open ML window that is attached below main window. |

Alt-Tab panel restore issue
OS: Windows XP/SP2
CPU: Pentium III 550 MHz RAM: 256 Mb Sound: SoundBlaster Live! Winamp: version 5.531 Language Pack: None (default English US) Skin: using Classic Clean install, no 3rd-party components Problem: After some time playing, [Alt-Tab] switching back to Winamp won't restore the left panel (Main and Equalizer), just the Playlist. Clicking on the task bar will restore all panels though. Method of Reproduction: Not sure about any sequence of events. Several concurrent programs running: maybe Internet Explorer and some others (notepad, windows explorer). Sorry for not being more specific here. Remark: This anomaly may have something in common with Lanfear's post in this thread, although his OS was Windows Vista. Both reports are Alt-Tab restore issues. Thanks for reading. |

Bookmark shortcut
Winamp 5.531
Modern Skin Windows XP Professional SP2 When I press the Alt+I shortcut with one more tracks selected in the Playlist Editor, the currently playing track is sent to the Bookmarks in the Media Library instead of the selected tracks. If I recall correctly, in version 5.5 the selected tracks would be sent to the Bookmarks. Is this new behaviour intended? Bento Skin just makes things worse, since the Alt+I shortcut simply brings down the View menu no matter where's the focus (even though the right click menu informs that Alt+I is the shortcut to bookmark a track). [Edit --> DJ Egg] Reproduced. Thanks. |

Time increasing in playlist editor
-Winamp 5.531 (don't know how to get the build_no) - clean install
-Winamp Language: Pack german -System specs: ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE, AMD Athlon 62 X2 3800+, 2 GB RAM -Windows XP incl. SP3 installed yesterday -Video Card: SAPPHIRE HD 3870 ATI RADEAON -Sound Card: USB Audio -DirectX version 9.0c I think Bug: I bought some songs at www.akuma.de. I take a playlist created in an older Winamp or take those akuma mp3 files into a new one. If I load an playlist, the time is shown correctly. Even playing such an akuma song the time shown in playlist editor increases about ten times. If I create a new Playlist the increased time ist immediately shown. Akuma sell its songs with watermark. I made a crosscheck on an older PC to assure that the plugin TomSteady Audio Filter didn't cause the bug. I discovered that the result was exacly the same. Ronny Heinz System developer |

@heinzi76
Please provide a link to a sample file which exhibits this problem. Without a sample file, we cannot reproduce the problem. If you don't have your own webspace, upload it to any of stashbox.org, mediafire.com or sendspace.com and post the download url here. Don't worry if it says 'url submitted by user' in your post, admin/mods can still see the url. |
