New .mp3 files play muddy and muffled
I've been using Winamp for years and it's been great. Have been using v 5.8 for a long time as well. Over the past week, new .mp3 files I've tried to play sound muddied and muffled. As I play other files in my library, some are fine and others are also now muffled or muddy. This is a recent phenomenon. I have some 7500 files in my library but have had as many as 20,000+ in the past. All the questionable files play just fine in VLC, Windows Media Player and WavePad and VideoPad. I've restarted the computer, cleared and restocked the library with no change. I am at a loss to understand this and am looking for an answer. Any ideas?

Maybe the Output plug-in is not configured properly.
Try using "out_ds.dll" and make sure the chosen device is what you want. Windows 10 Home, 64 bit, Winamp 5.666, Bento Skin |

Thanks, but the output plug-in looks fine and hasn't changed. I don't know how that would affect only some of the files but I appreciate the thought.

FYI, I uninstalled and reinstalled Winamp and the problem seems to have gone away.
