Audigy is not a true 24/96 card, more like a 24/48 one

http://www.americas.creative.com/pro...duct=134&Nav=B

24-bit Analog-to-Digital conversion of analog inputs at 48kHz sample rate
24-bit Digital-to-Analog conversion of digital sources at 48kHz to analog 5.1 speaker output
16-bit recording with sampling rates of 8, 11.025, 16, 22.05, 24, 32, 44.1, and 48kHz
Supports Sony® / Philips® Digital Interface (SPDIF) format input signal of up to 24-bit/96kHz quality
SPDIF output up to 24-bit resolution at selectable sampling rate of 44.1, 48, or 96kHz

Once again, Creative's deceptive marketing strikes again. There should be a class action lawsuit against Creative for false advertising. If you notice, only with SPDIF can you get 96khz sampling rates, not with analog outputs. And yet they go around claiming it's a 24/96 soundcard. Also if you noticed it's limited to 16bit recording with sample rates up to 48khz. True 24/96 cards can record to 24bit with 96khz sampling rates.

Does anyone have any idea when they are going to go on sale in England, and for how much?

Probably not, but if I'd invested the money in a high end sound card, I'd want it wotking as stated, too. If (s)he is going to do real audio work, though, the extra bits actually will matter.

Why do you want to buy something which doesn't live up to what it's suppose to have? Unless you have money to burn....

There are many other better choices that are either available now or coming soon, like Nvidia's NForce APU(Audio Processing Unit).

Have any of you actually read the specs on Creative's own site? Nowhere do they claim that it's a 24-bit pure soundcard. It clearly states the specs for what they are.

Be honest, if you're really after a high spec true 24- or even 32-bit card you're hardly going to be considering a consumer model such as those produced by Creative, are you? If you're a professional you go for something like a Yamaha. Soundblasters have always been aimed at home use, and home users should be more than happy with 24-bit playback.

Angelfire is no fun. I did trick it into showing me the pic, though.

I attached it.
