I don't know why you guys flame folding. Clearly you are insecure with choosing SETI. And there will be no huge impact on humanity or society if we find aliens. Humans are humans, and everything you see happening in the world is the result of human nature. This will never change, and certainly not because we find evidence of life 10 parsecs away. The reason we don't have peace and prosperity is because peace is not in human nature, nor is sharing to achieve prosperity.

The reason I run SETI instead of Folding is because I'm fascinated and curious into helping find different life-forms that can communicate with us. Rather, there are other computers that will be running research into helping cures, I am not one of them.
Also, please don't make this into argueing fest since there is a thread for this forum's Folding@Home Team. Also, your signature image still is beyond the limited size that is on the Forum Rules. |

I've just upped 50 WUs and will be continuing to crunch more now.
The past few mnths have been bad as I was doing everything possible to stop be PC dieing before I finished uni. But now that's all over I'll be running SETI more often. Just thought I'd remind everyone of this threads existance. Heat is no longer be an acceptable excuse for not crunching units. I bought 3 80mm fans the other day - one as another exaust fan, one as an intake fan and one as an intake fan blowing over 2 of my my HDDs. On 100% load I'm running at Case temp: 26C CPU temp: 46.5 on an XP2100+ I may be tempted to splash out and get a new processor once I start earning again, however I'm also tempted to buy another monitor and a new graphics card. Maybe I could stretch to all of the above

Oh, I'm still crunching, but I've moved over to the BOINC version and have stopped crunching using Classic SETI@Home. Actually, I'm the only active cruncher for the Winamp Team in the Boinc version as it kept my Team Status when they copied the database over. http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/team...p?teamid=31188
