Id like to see more activity on the dev side......winamp has been my default player since i was 10....im now in university doing Info Systems and the problem i have is ive done vb.net, c# and other languages but not C++.....i want to do my own plugins but lack of good tutorials is hindering me..

Winamp dev dudes, please do this one: Whenever winamp is closed, if playlist is changed, please add a confirmation popup or something.
It is waaaay too annoying to see that you have forgot to save the damn playlist .
That usually being :
- the next morning
- after friends leave your place (given a great party)
- after a dj was here
- basically everytime you are happy with the list thus you forget to save it.

The things i like to see is the PURGE of all that was AOL HELL and the return of all good Nullsoft logo sand good tech..The contacting of those who drop the radio station when the mis-worded post on Winamp went out from AOL ..Many people those the Shoutcast was going away and kill radio station on Winamp that had bookmarked for years. And yest SHOTCASTTV I love it and we had at one time over 5000 stations on there ..

Hi DJ Egg and your cohorts. I can't wait until a safe winamp download is available. nothing compares. I had to recover my computer after January 10th, so I am currently w/o winamp, and it sucks! BTW, why do you have the download link on the top right of the page while saying that DL's are unavailable? That link has a virus! Is there a safe DL available right now?

All I can think that you're referring to is some advert from Google Ads.

You are right; it was an evil Google ad. I hate those power hungry [censored]s more every day. I don't know which media player the link was to, and I'm not going to explore further. The question remains, however, are the links in post #2 safe and available? I just joined this forum, so I'm not sure which non-available downloads you were referring to in post #1. Ballpark, how far off are you guys from a new release? FYI, I couldn't tell how to find my CD/DVD drive in the last AOL release, and the one prior crashed whenever I tried to rip a CD. Help!

I'm trying to download Winamp--using the second post in this thread, by Winamp Love, but when I download it, it says "Failed" right away. I tried again, with the same result. I'm using Firefox on a brand new laptop, Windows 8 OS.

Because this computer is new, I don't have Winamp at all. And it's such an integral part of my computer usage, I don't want to go without.

Can anyone help me??

UPDATE:
Nevermind, figured it out. Apparently the problem was with Firefox. Once I downloaded from IE, it worked out just fine. Who knew we'd see the day when Internet Explorer would succeed where Firefox fails?

i hope winamp supports emoji characters in the filename's of mp3's in the future =)

also, there is a winamp plugin called 'mp3cue', and it is for playing mp3's of mix-cd's.
with an mp3 that is like 74 minutes long and it's .cue file, the plugin will allow you to open a second playlist for the songs within the mp3 referenced in the .cue file.

afaik, winamp 5.55 is the last version to support this very useful plugin, so for that reason, i would not upgrade to a new winamp unless the new versions support the mp3cue plugin or have copied mp3cue and implemented something similar to it in winamp. =)

ive included a screenshot of winamp with mp3cue on and operating.

it's pretty great. =)

I was very disappointed when it was announced that Winamp was gone. It brought about a real sadness since I had the shareware version 2.41 and purchased it when 5.0 came out. Now that Winamp is being revamped and a new version will be released, I am happy. Thanks for all the years and many more to come.

I know design trends have moved toward the flat and box look (saddly) but that doesn't mean it we should look like MS was our saving grace.

Syncing playlists from the computer to iPod is supported (not sure on iPhone/iTouch/iPad). You'd need to enable disc mode on the device to do this though (and it may have been taken away with newer versions)

As for Winamp in the App Store... *very* doubtful, Apple wouldn't allow it.

JakdMan: it's a temporary site and does it really matter how it looks as long as information can be found from it? which is minimal at the moment as it's only been a few weeks since the sale and it takes time to sort out the mess of things that was the old AOL setup. and as it's a temporary site, who knows what'll eventually happen to it and any other sites which need to be re-made in the coming year (as that's a realistic time scale to see the new owners to do something and not an instant week or two as too many have been naively expecting).

Please add to Winamp an AutoPlay option on the Start of the application, without need a external plugin, because is a very useful for me to use for my radio with shoutcast. Mi idea is, if the computer is reset for example, autostart the reproduction of the previous playlist. Start Winamp with Windows is easy, but don't exist one option to start the reproduction of the music in the start of winamp.

I recently bought a new laptop with win 8 and installed the last winamp. It worked fine except milkdrop just wouldnt load.... i got a error message saying it was a shader problem related to directx. updated to win 8.1 and still no good. I dont know if its because the latest directx 11 doesnt come with its previous versions included but it just wouldnt work. I took a wild guess and figured if i found an older version of dx and installed it and voila! fully functional winamp again. i got the directx9 2010 version off file hipo. If anyone has this prob, give it a try. hope this helps anyone with this problem.
