Have you heard about the first cloned baby being born? It was in the news yesterday!

I don't believe it though until they get some independent scientists to prove it. They said in the next few weeks 5 more will be born. I wonder how many "attempts" (which always involves killing an embryo) they needed to clone them.

A scary thought...greetings from a brave new world....

yes but it goes wrong so often, you'll get a handicapped or "not being able to live on its own" embryo and then they'll kill it (or freeze it for further research I'm not that sure about it) . They needed so many to produce Dolly (the sheep) so I bet they tries several time to clone a human baby too

Religion is one thing, radical people are behind this. And it is unethical. The only good purpose you might be able to use cloning is for pets. Clone your cat to look just the same, or dog. Now I would support that, but humans are too complex to completely clone. And there are going to be a lot of backlashes because of this.

On a mor serious note, I'm all for the cloning of human tissues. If science could grow me a new intestine, I say go for it! As for the cloning of a person, I'm against it. Yes, it will...this doesn't mean that the baby will be born in the same stage of development as the donor, but that its cells will be the same age as the donor's cells...so if the source cell came from a 40 year old person, then you have a baby with 40 year old cells, which probably won't live long, if at all, and will be subject to all the various health issues that you'd expect a person that's 40 years old to have...that's how the current tech works (which is to say, not well), and that's why we must work to rapidly extend our understanding of this tech, so that we can make it so that if a person that's 40 years old is cloned, you either get a clone who is developmentally 40 years old, or an infant close that is genetically identical to the donor, but with a much younger cellular age. Having clones that are the same cellular age as the donor just won't do.
