Moore film 'favourite for prize'

Micheal Moore is tipped to get the Palm D' Ore for his latest film, "Fahrenheit 9/11 "

..."The controversial film received a 15-minute standing ovation when it was screened at the festival on Monday.

The last documentary to win the Palme d'Or was The World Of Silence in 1956...."

15 minute standing ovation?

that's unbelievable. no doubt some of his opposers will be picking it apart for insignificant errors any time soon

LMAO!
He snuck his film crew into Iraq and had them embedded without the pentagon's knowledge.
Can't wait to see this movie which, if all goes well will be released by July 4th.

NEW '9/11' FLICK HAS FAR 'MOORE' FIZZLE THAN SIZZLE

May 18, 2004 -- CANNES, France - President Bush need not lose any sleep over Michael Moore's much-hyped "Fahrenheit 9/11," which turns out to be a wet firecracker.
Moore's virulent feature-length attack on Bush, which premiered yesterday to a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, falls far short of delivering on the filmmaker's extravagant promises of election-swinging revelations.

"You will see things you haven't seen before and learn things you have not learned before," he vowed on Sunday.

Well, maybe if you spent the last three years hiding in a cave in Afghanistan.

Or maybe if you spent time embedded in Iraq, getting footage that everyone else is too scared to show.

Have you seen yet? I haven't.

Yes, Moore has never said he likes Saddam Hussein or if he should have been removed from power. It's the reasons (or lack of reasons) the Bush administration provided for going to war in Iraq that he's attacking.

I've decided to give Michael Moore a break,
and not accuse him of aiding our enemies with
their cause against Bush and America anymore.
Nope...no more goat for Mr. Moore.

Instead, I think his film should be released
in every movie house, in every city across America.
Then we'll see if it has the effect he made it to have, to remove Bush from office.
If Bush looses, then Moore can claim his film was a success.
If Bush wins, then Moore will have to admint his film was a failure.
The only way to know how it will effect America is for America to see it.
So let's see it, and let the chips fall where they may.

i don't think those things would be an accurate correlation, to be honest. if bush fails and he claims his film a success because of that, he'd be wrong. it might have been a factor, but it's far from the only issue. it's pretty far down the list.

i do think it should be aired, though. i'd like to see what the moorewatch people dig up about it, too. although their arguments are usually ill-founded and/or irrelevant, they occasionally come up with a valid point or two.

censorship is obviously the work of the devil, though.

Actually no, you don't get shot right off the bat. First you're arrested, called an 'enemy combatant', imprisioned without trial and then shot.

We only immediately shoot the minor criminals anymore.
