the only thing i can think of is that the api message sent on song change is being swallowed up somewhere in the process before gen_tray can get it. until i can consistantly reproduce it i don't really know how to fix it (unless i add in a delayed 2nd check when playback has definitely started and i then do comparisons on the 2 tracks and update as needed or something). as time allows i'll look into it

Implemented Martin's request for grouping the packs by author.

Make sense, when I want to ad more icon packs from time to time, then the current interface must be improved for a better overview.

Here is what I've done:



(I guess the description text don't make sense anymore, I should remove it.)

I've also added a dropdown list, to choose all packs from one author.

I would be happy, when someone could tell me what you think about the changes. Useful or not? Or did the good ol' Koopa just waste his time?

Someone asked for preview images instead of description text. To be honest, my coding skills could be by far better, but they are not. I found some topics, but it's hard to implement this, maybe I find a good example, otherwise I'll need much more time to implement this feature.

as a little update on things (since i got bored and worked on a private app for myself) i'm looking at having code in place that will eventually allow me (once cleaned up) to implement hover and pressed states for the tray icons (can't remember if it was requested in this thread or not - i know it was over at skinconsortium).

so at some stage i'll start work on a 2.5 build of gen_tray to add in the hover/pressed states and of course will post more/test builds here

the normal icons are easy to implement the handling for, it's the 4way mode that's going to be a bit trickier just due to the way that it's dynamically created (my main concern is it causing undue cpu usage but hopefully it won't). i still need to do the code cleanup on the code provided but as soon as that's done i can start modding gen_tray again (dependant on other projects i might be able to get something started this weekend)

should we beg benski if will put *.ico / *.bmp / and the theme_file to the whitelist that will be extracted out of wals/wszs so gen_tray can search for the theme_file in the skins main dir and if it finds one it will use it! i don't think this will bring security probs!

there's not much point until gen_tray is even designed to implement such a feature but it's still on the eventual todo list

add a checkbox
[x] load pack defined by skin (if available)
if not
[old dropdown menu]

you could test this by outting the winamp modern pack in the winamp modern skin dir (no extraction needed by now) and then switch between classic & modern to test.
if this works then beg benski... this isn't hard to do for him i guess

DrO, just one small request, I know, I should stop bugging you, but I couldn't resist.

Can you change the default icons in the plug-in with the "Legacy" icons from the Tray Control Icon Pack?

I'm aware, that ability to change icon pack was included for all people, who don't like the default icons, but the default icons are ugly.

Neverthelesse, the Legacy pack is identical with the default icons, expect they don't have the ugly white backgrounds. Have I said, that the white background is ugly?

If you agree, I could remove the Legacy pack from the upcomming "Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack" installer.

I've made an update for a while, but never released it, heh.

I hope to find webspace for uploading it, until they've fixed Winamp.com again.

Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack 2.1

No major changes were made, but some improvements in the installer script and at least one new icon pack.

Changelog so far:

• added new "Wood" icon pack
• added ability to install icon packs by author
• grouped icon packs by author
• installer now detects running Winamp instances and can close them (just for fun hehe)
• changed name of local saved licence file to "Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack.txt"
• changed compressor to solid LZMA (file size vastly reduced)
• changed publisher name
• Installer won't create .url file anymore
• added help link to Windows uninstall menu
• fixed typo in licence file
• some cosmetic changes
• fixed some minor bugs
• updated to NSIS 2.20

I'm still working on new features for 3.0, but the new big update will released after a new version of the Tray Control plug-in was released.

is meant to be the hover/focused icon support (the base code i intend to use has been working flawlessly in another test app i have that hides my tray icons in a a psuedo xp hide button style). is just a matter of time to do it at the moment

Hover icons seems pretty logical on what that means, but what do you mean by focused? does that mean that it is being clicked?

with focused, i really should have gone with pressed/clicked. the intention is to add extra entries to the icp files to specify the icons for the additional actions but if not there then it'll revert to the current handling of using the specified main icon or falling back to the built-in icon

Isn't there a plugin that puts something on the taskbar like Windows Media Player yet?
I hate WMP and don't use it, but it's taskbar mode is awsome, and set up perfectly, like how it only shows when WMP is minimized, which makes sence.
Maybe there is a plugin, I'm not sure, but if not, I just can't understand why there wouldn't be, seeing is that WMP has had one for many many years.
Anyways, nice icon pack.

there are deskbands out there but nothing to the same extent as WMP's with the expanding out video, etc since winamp just isn't coded to allow that to happen from my understanding (since they are shell extensions and not directly parts of the player)

Try Winamp Deskband it's one of the best plug-ins. But as DrO said, you won't get a video window like in WMP.

I guess when the icons need to be modified for v3.0 of the plug-in, this mode is very useful.

So there probably will be a 2.2 release before we ship v3.0.

The code is similar to the code I've used in the Essentials Pack installer (never relased). Big thanks to DrO

Known bugs:

- uninstaller will not delete trayiconpack_install.ini
- maybe I broke some other things
- script need code cleanup (again)

This is Beta software, which isn't tested much.

I've ported some stuff from the Essentials Pack Installer. So, no real new stuff, but the installer is a lil' bit better than before.

osmosis: I've added the old Legacy icons to the Legacy Lite mod.

The result is a new icon pack called Legacy Lite (old Legacy icons + new compact.bmp)

The installer should work, but I had no time for testing, so it's still called beta.

Oh gosh, well i wasn't really planning on them being installer ready.. just a quick and dirty upload since i recently switched to royale noir. i've got some time now so i'll see about lightening up the actual legacy icons for inclusion. It's too bad DrO doesn't have any time to work on 2.5 anymore; his Notification Tooltip code is an advancement on the Tray Control version and there's an amusing mismatch between them at times.
