Whenever I start WinAMP 2.76 (same issue with 2.75) under Windows 2000 Professional (5.0 - 2195) and listen to mp3's I don't have any problems. If I close WinAMP afterwards the process still remains in the task-manager with a cpu load of about 99%, other applications often experience problems with this high load. I have to kill the process by hand with the task-manager then to clean my processes. Is this a known issue or am I the only one realizing that? Any solves for this 'bug' available?

Remove/disable any 3rd party plugins,
particularly General Purpose ones, eg. gen_mircex.dll

They're all disabled ... is deleting those plugins the only way to avoid that?

Which ones do you have?
It may only just be the one that's causing it, not all of them.

You should check the author's site/s to see if there's any updated versions available.
Always make sure you've got the latest versions, because in some cases, older versions of 3rd party plugins are no longer compatible with newer versions of Winamp.

I mentioned gen_mircex because it is a known problem with this particular plugin.

The only General Purpose plugin I have loaded is gen_mircex.dll v2.00, I need it for my mIRC script and I think it's quite up-to-date... is it causing the problem?

Alternative IRC plugins:
Justin's mIRC Plugin
IRC Control Ex by Brian Harris
mIRCPlug by Jonathan Cloots

I just browsed the entire General Purpose plugins section for these.

I couldn't even find the mIRC-Ex plugin, unless it's one of the 3 above?
Lord knows?
