My girlfriend and I still play our NES a lot when we're over her place... my fave games are probably Super Mario Bro 3 and Zelda. I used to have that Super Off Road game (I played it a lot) but I don't know what happened to it. I love playin' old games! Oh, DuckHunt w/ the pistol is fun as hell when you're bored; especially shooting the clay pigeons.

I finally found a copy of the original Metroid! I also found a copy of the Punisher.

I've got a nice list of games for my NES now. I somehow acquired two copies of a couple games... but oh well. It's all gravy.

List so far:

-The Legend of Zelda (gold version)
-The Legend of Zelda II: Link's Adventure (both the grey and gold versions)
-Tetris
-Super Mario Brothers / Duck Hunt (two copies)
-Super Mario Brothers 2
-Super Mario Brothers 3
-Metroid
-Gradius
-The Punisher
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Excitebike
-Pinball Quest
-Bionic Commando
-Gauntlet
-Rad Racer (two copies)
-R.C. Pro-Am Racing

just download system specific emulators (ie: snes=Zsnes) and roms (games=Mario world) if you want to partake in some classic console gaming. Yes the emulators are not the actual hardware, yet they are not subject to the same degradation as the hardware is, they are forever(1’s & 0’s). As for controllers you can pick up a psx to usb adapter for cheap then just config it and kick it. In some cases these emu's have online capabilities (zsnes.com + zbattle.net) so if you want to take a break from that paper your righting and kick some ass in Street Fighter you can do just that, not possible with an old console. http://removed is a good place to get the emus, but you’re on your own in your search for roms, in that they are copyrighted. Emulators are not illegal as long as you own the game and the system you are emulating.

I moveth thy thread. Since we now have a proper forum for this thread (and it's my thread anyways ), it shall now reside here.

Anyways, I picked up a copy of Top Gun for my NES earlier tonight. Total... $2. I also found a copy of the original Super Mario Brothers (without Duck Hunt) to add to my collection. Total... 29 cents.

get the roms not additional cartridges, roms don’t have to concern them self’s with cheap copper connecters warring down, and then being blown on in a futile attempt to get them to be operational. Damn that blinking blue screen, damn it just fricken work will ya.

That’s why after awhile (if not already) you’ll be cussing out your inoperable console, while I will be playing the games (@ no additional cost or frustration) on my computer with a psx controller. ; )

No, I haven't. I'll pick it up next time I see a copy, though.

I'm still looking for Track And Field, though.

unless you have the revised NES that is top loading and went on sale in 92 then you will inevatably fall victum to the plight of the cheap copper connectors. care will elongate your enjoyment but it will inevatably wear as do all man made objects , especialy thoughs with cheap parts and freq friction. So continue to build your collection if you wish but if you want to presurve a working Nes classic I suggest you use emulators or a revised 92 nes. This is becasue 5 10 years down the line a working classic nes will be a rare find.
just a suggestion : )

I don't have the top-loading NES. That's even more rare to find than the original one... But anyways, I mainly have them just to keep in my collection and to play once in a blue moon. When I want to play some video games, I'll usually turn on my N64, Cube, or GBA. I'm using the N64 that I restored to play my games on while I keep my original N64 in the box it came in the day I bought it (the day it hit the shelves back in '98 ). Soon, I'm also going to get a used Cube to play my games on so that I can put my Platinum Cube back in the box and keep it in mint condition. I'm also going to do the same with my GBA... I'm going to get a Platinum GBAsp to keep in the box while I use my other GBA to play the games on. My original GameBoy, NES, and Super NES are all also still in great condition, and I'm going to keep them that way.

I picked up three more NES games yesterday... the original Spy Hunter (I've never played any of the series, so I'm not quite sure what it's like yet), another copy of Tetris (just for the hell of having two), and the original Pinball (ya know, the one with Mario running around holding a plank above his head ). Total for the three? $8.54

List so far:

-The Legend of Zelda (gold version)
-The Legend of Zelda II: Link's Adventure (both the grey and gold versions)
-Tetris (two copies)
-Super Mario Brothers (without Duck Hunt)
-Super Mario Brothers / Duck Hunt (two copies)
-Super Mario Brothers 2
-Super Mario Brothers 3
-Metroid
-Gradius
-The Punisher
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Excitebike
-Pinball
-Pinball Quest
-Pinbot
-Bionic Commando
-Gauntlet
-Rad Racer (two copies)
-R.C. Pro-Am Racing
-Spy Hunter
-Super Off-Road
-Top Gun

Not a bad list, if I do say so myself.

I also finally got a GBAsp yesterday. It was the last Platinum colored one in the area. GameStop was sold out of all the GBAsp's (the Platinum ones were the first to go). Wal-Mart didn't have any. None of the local game traders stores had any... So, I was lucky to find two GBAsp's at Circuit City. One was Cobalt, the other was Platinum. I was like "can you hold this for me while I run to the bank real quick? " I'm just glad I finally got one. I'm going to keep this one in the box and use my regular GBA to play my games on. Now, I just need to find a used GC so that I can put my Platinum one back in the box.

Btw, would you be willing to sell the top-loading NES separately? Take a money order? Been looking for one of those for a while, now.

sgt, the n64 hit the shelves xmass of 96 (@ least in the usa). emulation is key if you want to enjoy some gaming nastalga with out the expence or the frustration. though I still have my original nes, with about 30 games sitting in a box in my closet.

Actually, the N64 hit the shelves on September 29th, if I remember correctly. Anyways, emulators are fine for other people, but they just don't compare to having the real thing in front of you. At least for me, that is.

I never had an NES before..I remember my friend had one 8 years ago. I wanted to play Duckhunt a lot and I remember my friend saying:
"All you want to do is play video games!"

I am only 14..so.When NES came out..I wasn't even born yet...The major systems I remember are SNES and Sega Genesis.=/

Maybe I am mistaken but were not all copies of "The Legend of Zelda" gold. I have the cartrage myself, and yes it too is gold, in fact I have never seen a gray cart of this game.

I went down to GameStop earlier today to renew my Frequent Buyer's card... They gave me a new card and renewed my subscription to Game Informer magazine (sweet), and I also picked up a few more games... two of which I already have, but I wanted another copy of each just for the hell of it. Picked up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, another copy of The Punisher, and another copy of the gold version of The Legend Of Zelda. Total for the three? About 19 bucks.

List to date:

-The Legend of Zelda (two copies, both gold versions)
-The Legend of Zelda II: Link's Adventure (grey and gold versions, one each)
-Tetris (two copies)
-Super Mario Brothers (without Duck Hunt)
-Super Mario Brothers / Duck Hunt (two copies)
-Super Mario Brothers 2
-Super Mario Brothers 3
-Metroid
-Gradius
-The Punisher (two copies)
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game
-Excitebike
-Pinball
-Pinball Quest
-Pinbot
-Marble Madness
-Bionic Commando
-Gauntlet
-Rad Racer (two copies)
-R.C. Pro-Am Racing
-Spy Hunter
-Super Off-Road
-Battleship
-Top Gun
